Hey guys:beer2:
I'm working on a website that's been using Mambo CMS for a while. It now has months of assets from the company that need reformatting.

There's also an issue of security. It turns out the current Mambo install is easily manipulated and enter able. If I don't find a replacement then I'd need to fix this problem too.

I would appreciate any advice on polishing Mambo or ideally replacing with a heavy-blog style format. I'm being tasked with adding forums also.

Thanks!

Can we see the website you're working on? Different situations are likely to call for different solutions. :P

You're quite right, though unfortunatly due to my inability to fix the current mambo-tangled situation I can't show you guys the site right now.

What I can do is explain it :)
The site is for a full-service certified speaker repair company
They're located in Florida and offer customers the option of mailing in their equipment
Again I intend on adding a forum and integrating into the index and such to a degree
It has to be easy for them to update, mambo took some explanation but works for them
There're over a dozen sections of the site, but I'll be slimming it down this version

I'd like something simple. Mambo has given me so many problems I'm growing to develop a distaste for it. If necessary I can stick with it but right now face a blank index page and can't fix it by restoring the index.php. The company has been adding custom pages for about a year and it's imparative they're kept.

Any help is appreciated guys!

Drupal does those things you mention and I believe and they have some limited "migration from mambo" docs.

It is hard to know if it would actually be any better as I have never used mambo. One thing to note if you have a look into drupal is that you need to be sure the version you are working with, corresponds to the documentation you are using. There are some big changes between some of the versions.

In terms of set up I personally find it a bit of a fiddle compared to say wordpress but as it continues to win awards I presume it is sweet.

The other thing to note is using the latest version is not always the best way to go due to the sometimes lack of finished modules.

Man I hate Mambo.

I backed my server files and database up before having to reinstall. Upon uploading backups and restoring the database, I was treated to empty content folders. The past year of work the company put into their site has been lost, f***ing fabulous.

I'm not sure whether I should try to rebuild the site with my favorite CMS Mambo or go to a CMS that doesn't continually bite me in the ***.
