Multiple Key Detection Question

I cant find this tread in the forums so am posting a new one, sorry.

I have attempted to implement this key listener solution but the browser is still picking up the default key presses, ie ctrl + J in ie opens up the feeds panel.

Is there someting im missing or did the tutorial @

or did they use ctrl + k because it is one of the few keys that doesnt have a ie equivanent
