Does the Source/Experiments forum have a timeout?

It seems to take threads off it's thread list, but still allows them to be found in the search. Whats the point of this?

Its a forum feature. Go to your CP and edit your options. Look for:

Default Thread Age Cut Off
You may specify a time period from which to display threads. Threads older than the age you specify will not be shown.

Default Thread Age Cut Off: [Select]

whats the thinking behind having this on the forum? is it for uptodateness (new word!)?

It's just a default vBulletin setting. You could probably find a better answer on the vB site than here, since Kirupa has very little to do with vB development.

I just changed the default setting for that forum to show All Threads as opposed to whatever the earlier default was (14 days?) :)

I used ninja moves to make the threads invisible.
