View Full Version : Flash resolution, to scale or not to scale

There are many Flash sites with enter pages that tell the user they need a minimum resolution of xxxx by xxx, while there are other Flash sites that simply resize to the dimensions of the monitor.
I was wondering, is it a trend to have full screen flash or is it a design preference?

Well simply said if you resize a persons browser you go to hell so its really a life choice on your part.
If you align your elements to the top right bottom left the site can resize and look good on all resolutions. This is what a lot of the newer sites are doing. There are classes online that make it easy also.
The best thing is allow the site to shrink to an amount smaller than you would ever imagine someone resolution to be.

Okay, but is it the contemporary thing to do, scaling flash sites?
I did one before on a 1280 x 1024 but when I upgraded to a larger monitor the resolution went up to 1900x1600 and things were really far apart. My last two sites I made 900x700 and centred the flash movie in the middle of whichever resolution the user had. The background scaled, but my main content was still centred.
While I'm not working on a fashion site, I've seen that pretty much all of them do it. Probably because they need to have high res photos of their collections on the site, but then what about a general website?
