I just got me a copy of Houdini 3D Software by SideFX and it is a killer program, just one problem, ITS SO HARD TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone ever hear of it!!??

yeah I had a chance to play with it a bit and its reeeaaally cool. But it IS hard. You really need some training in it or at least some good time spend going through tutes and things of the such.

yea i totaly agree, but I haven't found too many good as well as interesting tutorials, I would really like to find one on the matrix effect in the first one, when the agents seal Neo's mouth shut in the interrogation room. That effect was done in houdini, so I just got pulled towards it like a magnet.

A lot of the effects in Xmen are houdini too. I think the huodini site has a walkthrough of doing the miniature city thingy from the first movie with all the rising and falling metal bar things to make the minature and whatnot. Might be something to look into. Otherwise, address the documentation and the resources that came with the package :)

yup...sure is :) its more for special effects tho. An example of it being used would be in Lord of the Rings when Frodo puts on The Ring and you see all that wavy stuff around him....well Houdini was used for that

I found it and it looks pretty cool.
anyone got any links to some cool tutorials and how they did the x-men thingy i'd really like to look at them.

yeh, very hard to use... also a couple of years ago i got trial of amorphibian or something, and that was CRAZY! (But then I had no tutorials or anything [i think tutorials are evil :P, but not really, ok im weird] and I was like 10 or 11)

Houdini seriously requires you to take a course to learn it, it is veryyyyyy hard to use :smirk:

Amorphium.....I have that proggy....their metaballs and painter is heeellla cool......not really a conventional modelling tool but the new one is cool......I stay away from houdini

Houdini is a awesome program, awesome unlimited power..!! Its so **** hard though. :!:
If you want a great reference and some FREE!! , yes FREE!! tutorials, go to www.3dbuzz.com and download the Houdini Video tutorials.
I've looked at a few videos and i must say Houdini is very impressive but i've been a maya fan for too long to change.

Almost done with my first Houdini Model, its a chinese spiral staircase, i'll post the render when I am done (-:
