Happy Yorkshire Day everyone!! :beam:

Some of you probably don't know what Yorkshire is :sure: Yorkshire is the area where I live in England! Kind of like a state in Americe I guess, but smaller. Yorkshire is split up into, North, East, South and West Yorkshire... I'm in West!

So seen as it's yorksire day, I'll show you lots of Yorkshire stuff!!!

Heard of the Bronte Sisters? They were from Yorkshire!

Famous for its rugged landscape, its puddings, and the locals’ dry wit. A combination of natural beauty and human history make this county a fascinating and refreshing place to visit – and somewhere you won’t tire of in a hurry. :thumb:

Where is it?

Must have heard of our puddings.. Yorkshire Puddings!

The more countryside areas of Yorkshire are mostly farming and rural little villages

Ok, the Yorkshire people have a very distinct way of speaking! Time for a few of my favourite phrases, try saying them!

A more jammy so and so ah nivver met - That person is inordinately lucky.

A reet ding dong - A big argument.

As 'appy as a pig in’t’trough - Sublimely happy.

Ee’d eat t’oven if t’were buttered - He seems hungry.

Thas getten reyt bogbellied - You have put on weight.

So, it's come to this, 'as it? Ah'm not wanted any longer? Ah worked for thi dad, thi grandad and 'is dad an' all. Ah tell thi what lad, if Ah'd known this job weren't going to be permanent, Ah'd nivver 'ahe tekken it on. - So, it's come this, has it? I'm not wanted any longer? I worked for your dad, your granded and his dad also. I'll tell you what lad, if I had known this job was not going to be permanent, I would have never taken it on.

Sprinkle liberally with ‘tha knows’, ‘by gum’ and ‘ah reckon’, plus the occasional ‘ells bells an buckets o blood’ and you’ll allus be welcome in’ Yorkshire!

Finally, no guide to ‘Yorkshire-speak’ is complete without the Yorkshire Motto:

"Ear all, see all, say nowt. Eat all, sup all, pay nowt. And if tha does owt fer nowt, allus do it for thissen."

So, thanks for listening, hope you've learnt something! Have an awesome day! Everyone in Yorkshire will!
