can you asign specific guides to specific layers or do you have to have all the guides you are using on a project on all together or off all together??........if you know what i mean...?

hi wilma,
you can only have one set of guides per canvas, not per layer (unfortunately).

ctrl+R for guides
ctrl+H to hide guides ;-)

you could possibly just have a new PSD for each layer, that would solve your problem.
