Here's the poll for the manga line art battle. The theme was to create a piece in the Japanese style, based on the forums and / or its members - "The Legend Of Kirupa: The RPG".

Entrants may vote, though not for their own piece. :) If you'd like to post your comments and reasons for voting that would be great, I'm sure all of the participants would appreciate the feedback.

As usual, voting will be open for two weeks, or until one of the entries hits 30 votes.

Uh... kit... in the poll, you spelled my name as FPA. Can you change that to FAP? Thanks.

I don't know about most of the entries but mine and Asphalt's were drawn by hand on paper, then scanned in and traced with an art package. :)

Yeah, that's what I did with my entry. I drew it with pencil and paper first, scanned it, then traced it and colored it in Flash MX.

(Dosn't look like I'm getting very many votes though... :*( )

i used two fonts. The one that is on the side that says: "kirupa-where ..." is Psuedo Saudi. The other one that is used more like for effect is Levitated Rune. Where i got them from i really dont remember. I got so many fonts this days i lose track of where i get them.
If u want any of them i could email it to u. Just let me know.

ok, i try to explain a bit better. :)
There are many ways to get that kind of effect, after a while when u play around alot u learn the tricks to it. But the one on that picture started out like this:

1. I loaded brushes "assorted brushes" and picked brush number 54. Adjusted the size of it and pick a color like red and white. I brushed a light circle with red and then i added some white in the middle with same brush. (Usually i do it a tad bigger then i need it to be, and later on i scale. )

2. I add some noise to it, filter->noise->add noise-> 5%/gaussian/monochronic.

3. I cut everything and paste it so i get it on the middle of the art board. This i do cause Radial blur filter goes from middle. So..filter->radial blur ->amount:12 method:spin quality: good
You gotta see if the settings work for the size of your picture.

4. Now u go to brightness and contrast (image->adjustsments->brightness and contrast) and u move up the contrast. Look at the picture to see how much u need to move it up.

5. I usually do some free transform, skew and so on, to get the shape i want.

6. I play around with layers, for example: duplicate the layer u been drawing on, then set its blending mode to overlay. Duplicate again and set the new one to screen, and so on.

7. Last i adjust the color. If u got many layers i usually set a layer ontop of it, fill it with whatever color, set the layers blending to color and then press ctrl+u (Image->adjustments->hue saturation) and adjust for a nice color.

Something like that. :) Hope this helps more. Otherwise shout louder. ;)
