Hey has any of you guys tried half-life/counter-strike level design?

Its super fun! I suggest you try it, a good place to get started is:

I haven't created CS maps before, but I have started some Quake III Arena maps ... It looks interesting tho =)

^I recommend the halflife-cs-expert FGDs, they will allow you to make more "Original" maps

if I have created a map. How can I import it into steam so that CS 1.6 can find that map ? or is it for 1.5 ? :-\

I just got tired how alot of the maps are just push maps, or plain unrealistic. So I created a map from old ww2 photos and satelite pictures.

It was great for Clan tournaments, see some best tactics there.

This is not about Maps ok

its about steam

I have steam !

But I dont have Opsing force installed, do I need to have it installed form a cd to play it on steam or do you get it for free I just need to upgrade to play ?

You can only run your maps in Steam if you have a dedicated server... or if you want to make a listen server and only play wiyth BOTS (listen servers cannot be joined by normal people yet)

To import them into steam youhave to compile your maps correctly to the Sierra/Half-Life/Yourmodhere/maps/ directory

take the compiled .bsp file from the directory you compiled it to and move it into:
Steam/SteamCache/your-email-address/your-mod(for example cs)/cstrike/maps

i think... or maybe its:

Steam/SteamCache/your-email-address/your-mod(for example cs)/maps

look for your maps folder

after that you can run it with bots (1.6 STEAM ONLY) on a listen server, or host it on a dedicated server (a lot harder and more confusing :()

also- I have tried making entities of the counter-strike 1.6 new guns/items in the current version of hammer........ and they work fine with the expert FGD's for Counter-Strike

here's one i made a few years ago called he_nadewar. there's grenades laying all over the place for you to throw over the fence at the other team. there is plenty of cover, but there's nowhere completely safe from grenades. this is a fun map if you have at least 4 ppl. max players is 12. its great for LAN parties. it was downloaded over 8,000 times and sometimes i still see it on servers. if anyone plays it, let me know what you think.
