Came back from FitC just now. Was pretty sweet .. a few very interesting talks, the peak one was Jon Ruppel from oveover.com who talked about adaptable designs and interfaces. Very nice.

Anyway. Roger Galvin, the project manager of Flash was there and showed some pretty cool sneaks from CS4, most of which are out there already in some form or version but also some details on the new animator and motion control which will definitely give our friends the animators a big smile on their faces. Very nice.

I had a chance to have a talk with Roger as well and he promised to make the IDE in CS4 to suck less monkey teets. He swore he'd implement custom class auto completion and some details that make the Flash IDE so vastly inferior to Flash Develop and FDK.

Think CS4 will mostly bring smiles for designers and animators, but the new animation system will bring a few cool keynotes for us developers as well. Not to mention FP10 methods and the new auto-embed-font system *drool*

:D

I'm so stoked about the new text features. Text is one of the most out-dated features in the current iteration of Flash.

If there's one thing I would kill a man for, it's for a AS Panel overhaul in the Flash IDE. I'm absolutely giddy over the prospect of a new Mac Pro, Snow Leopard, and CS4. I basically want to fast-forward 6-12 months to get there :D

Some of the new animation features look fantastic (ie. an easing function per property).

He also showed some sort of 3D transform tool, which makes sense given the announced 3D features, but I hadn't seen how it would integrate with the IDE yet. The same goes for the inverse kinematics tool.

If they got class completion that would be a nice jump in the right direction, but yea flash's as3 panel is far from adequate for most developers still.

ive read theyve totally dropped keyframes across the timeline. Since i now only use (via Kirupas excellent tutorial!) tween classes, im not sure how i feel about this feature going.. only when its released will i accept or mourn, i guess.

Wait flash will have IK's??...wowzers

lol @ Sekasi for using Monkey Teets. I have actually said that in a formal meeting. People were like wtf.

CS4 sounds like a sexy beast. CS3 was a great release. Did they say anything about After Effects?

Keyframes are gone yeah. In a manner of speaking.

More of a 'designer' update then a developer update tho. : /

So what does that mean for animators? :O

It means animators will have an orgasm when they see the new timeline.

Literally. I'm not even joking. You'll hear the collective moan of climax from animators around the globe when CS4 hits the market.
