The actual beams itself are C4D, but the particles are photoshopped.

Man, you have so much talent and skill it's sick. Your site is the most seamless and utterly impressive of its type that I've yet to see. It's hard to get a realistic interface like that and have functional content as well. One thing has always bothered me though, that one top piece just doesn't fit in. I know it's off topic, sorry about that. The mech kicks ***.

July 29th, 2003, 10:37 PM
awligon, thanks for the kind words. Now, I'll be sure to make an even better layout with my next version. =)

The laser beam was created in C4D, but the particles are photoshop.

eg, sick render as usual, but in your animation, make it so the cannons are fired, and once it hits the other mech, have the camera circle around both mechs to give it a matrix feel, and then have the mech fall to the ground and kinda power down
mdipi
July 31st, 2003, 11:31 PM
hmm the eg doesnt fit there, and his feel look weird, i think a better angle is needed imo.l
othewise thats sick!

Demonia
August 1st, 2003, 04:49 AM
That is amazing work, just like everything else that you do :beam: . Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to put one of those mechs together and did u start with a sketch (i.e reference pics)?
D :beam:
eyeinfinitude
August 1st, 2003, 05:30 AM
snaxs, c4d is a 3d modeling program and those blast particles are just white circles with an outer glow applied to each in photoshop.
Demonia, I made these mechs a long time, the ones you see now are just updated versions. The originals took me about 4 hours to piece together and rendering time varies from 5 min to an hour. As for references, the only references I used was from my imagination.
Sauce2k, that's a pretty good suggestion, I'll keep that in mind when I do the animations.
Thanks for the comments everyone. =)

nice render there eg !! :!:
What method are you using to render these? I can see the nice reflections so im guessing HDR but i remember you said you couldnt get that with the version of Cinema you had. Is that just using a reflection map?

Thanks for the comments everyone. :geek:
Soulty, you're right, I still don't have HDR so since I don't have it, I decided to come up with my own method that sort of mimics the effects of HDR rendering. It's not as good, but it is close enough for now.
I will be moving on to Maya soon so keep an eye out for new stuff. =)

You finally have seen the light!! Go forth to the HDR lighting, go to better and greater things, lol. :P
Your gonna hate Maya at the start, especially coming from Cinema, but give it time and you will love many things about it. the navigation and the hot menu when you hit the space bar are two favourites. ;)
Can't wait to see your models rendered with Mental Ray!!
:: ohh i should mention that there should be a plugin for models made in cinema (probably DFX or OBJ export) to be able to import into Maya.
Take care::
