Interesting indeed. I have like six sites hosted by MT, two DV ones. Always been curious about this.

Thanks for the post.

This is really nice. Hope someone here gets in the beta so we can hear about it.

I cannot see this being cheap.

How is OS X licensed? Is it like Windows where each runtime instance of it requires a license? That means each virtual Leopard is going to cost a few hundred as basic cost for (mt). And 1/8th of one of these mega 64-bit servers is going to be pretty costly as well. There is no way this thing will be less than $100/month.

What's the point of a Mac OS X server anyway? What does it have that a Linux box does not?

^ If you have a studio full of mac's and are interested in any kind of groupware like calendars, wiki server and directory (think CRM), want a super easy server to administer cos you already have about 6 to look after and don't want to listen to staff *****ing about crappy UI's served to them - it's a pant wetingly tasty proposition.

It brings the enterprise appeal of Windows Server 2003 to OS X.

So basically, it finally brings those office-space applications to the OSX enviroment. Wow, that took awhile haha. :P

This doesn't appeal to me at all, personally. Really, with an IT guy that any company that can afford this is going to have, I don't see why anybody is going to want this.

But then again, it's OS X and pretty. I hope people know they don't get VNC. :P

They do get VNC. From the FAQ: "Can I use Screen Sharing and Remote Desktop to manage by [sic] (xv) Server?"

Yes you can use both. Remote Desktop information is available here and you can read some quick Screen Sharing tips here.
