EPS import with AS

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to build an application with Flash/Flex that allows users to upload their own eps vector files, edit and delete the layers inside, and eventually save them to some kind of bitmap image on export.

I've been looking around, trying to find a method of some sort that allows the import of eps files into flash. Has anyone tried this and been successful?

Help would be appreciated.

Native Illustrator files can be placed into flash, layers preserved etc...
The generic EPS option doesn't work AFAIK, although the difference between AI and EPS is minimal to say the least.
