Wolfenstein 3D = The first ever 3D FPS
Return To Castle Wolfenstein = Quake III Arena-engine based FPS.
Enemy Territory = I *think* that was the version that was fully online and team-based.

Enemy Territory is a free, upgraded version of the RTCW that one can buy in stores. By upgraded, I mean that it has new features implemented and the majority of a very large community (a couple thousand I guess) appear to prefer Enemy Territory to RTCW. It enhances a lot of the gameplay and the maps are more interactive and interesting. Also, most of the RTCW community is gradually moving over to Enemy Territory (although, it will take some time for leagues and ladders to fully adjust, which means that clans may still be playing RTCW rather than ET for a while yet).

(I know this because I used to play RTCW and recently gave ET [Enemy Territory] a go. Didn't really push my buttons though (then again, RTCW doesn't any more either)).
