View Full Version : Almost got my Go-ped Stolen
Clayman
July 24th, 2003, 10:16 PM
oh man... i just got attacked, and almost got my go-ped stolen.
so heres how it happened. I went out to ride my go-ped like i do almost every day, and as I was riding it on a big street by my house... a car about 50 yrds away from me drives onto the side walk on which i was riding... i saw 4 guys in there (about 18 -20 ) years old, and one guy gets out and starts running at me! i realize he is trying to steal my go-ped or kidnap me, so i turn around and start my go-ped, and as i am starting it, the car drives off the sidewalk, and back on the rode, and drives on the sidewalk about 15 feet away from me, so i just turn, turns the road, (fortuneately there weren't any other cars on the road), and start riding on the other side of the rode, and they just speed by me and i return hope shaking from the experience.
now i know to start carrying a pocket knife with me, but even if i did have i pocket knife, i wouldn'r have been able to use, it was all jsut so fast...
man... i'm still shaken up from it.

wow looks like someones gonna win the 2nd grade spelling bee. I wish I had a mopend and a go-pad.
Anyways, its not illegal to soup of engines. It may be illegal for someone to drive a go-ped/moped if under 16, but there is no law against souping up engines.

Knives suck. So do guns.
Cool kids carry mace, the tactical strength version- get one of the versions that foams (sprays out in a stream and sticks to your face), not fogs (sprays out in a fog and doesn't do much in the open air).
Knives leave cuts, guns leave bullet holes, but mace just makes 'em run away.

In my hood, the neighbors don't abide by the law. 90% of them own a dog and about 80% of those owners don't leash them.
So I was on my bike and i see this unleashed dog. I quickly turned the other way and pedeled as fast as I could. Out of nowhere the dog got really fast and was up on my side barking. The owner told it to stop, but it didn't listen. It was going to kill me. For at least half a mile it was on my tail. Then it gradually got tired and sank back. Good thing I was riding my $600 aluminum bike at the time.

This thread has been so educational for me, apparently there's a burgeoning scooter-mod subculture that I didn't even know about. It's like in Neuromancer, whole subcultures sprouting up overnight and dying out weeks later.
Crazy. I assume (and correct me if I'm being an idiot) that you guys who have these scooters are too young to get cars? Sounds like a lot of fun, I would have loved to have one of those things to tinker around with back then...

yeah they have relay strict laws in California about that 2 strokes i dont think i could even ride mine. they have very small cylinders and you have to mix both oil and gas in the tank so there for you get bad exhaust.

plus, they are extremely noisy. They get together here once a month at least, about 250 of them, and meet in GoldenGate Park, then for a ride through the City...
it's deafening. and smelly...
it's fun to wait for the straglers who's engines didn't start, or had a minor breakdown, and send them on a totally different route than the rest of the scooter boyz...

excuse me, but BS!
the air quality in the Bay Area is by far the best of any Metro City in America!
if you get any smog from anywhere, it will be from the I-5 corridor... look at Fresno, Orange County, etc.
everything here gets blown out to sea, what there is.
and the only way it will get better, is if youngsters like you start taking it seriously, and not adding to the problem!
