I bought this book "Php & MySQL web development" & I am installing Apache & PHP from its CD-ROM. but when I installed the php it gave me this message....
"Error trying Access the local web host service: GetObjectFailed you will need to manually configure IIS via the management console"
does anyone know what that means in 'basic english'?? So I may start learning php. Thanks

Youll have to have a webserver running on your computer to run PHP. IIS is the standard server that comes with Windows. But since this server is very insecure (even with the latest patches), Id recommend you get Apache server, which is the most widely used one, and is free.
Besides, since all MS-products will cost you an arm and a leg if you want to do anything commercial with your website, and Apache/mySQL/PHP-combination is pretty much free, it wouldnt be very wise to invest time in learning about for instance IIS and ASP, now would it?
