I do too. Never liked 'em. I'll take Megadeth, Metallica or Testament any day.
Speaking of the latter, their new album is streaming in its entirety.

Slayer hates you, and according to them, God hates us all.

hmmm.. cant think of any of my other favourte bands but oh well
paddy.

Trivium are rubbish now. I saw them twice after Ascendancy came out, but the second time they were terrible and The Crusade is pretty crappy.
I'm not a big fan of Arch Enemy or Machine ****ing Head. All That Remains are good though and Slipknot are legends.
Never liked old school metal. Very essential as far as influencing the newer generations of metal but not really my cup of virgin's blood.
My favourite metal bands of the last few years would have to be Killswitch Engage and The Haunted.
I've always liked the more melodic end of the metal spectrum.

I think there is some good metal like old Metallica and old Ozzy stuff. But most of the new stuff is just LOUD NOISES and power chords.

Old metal
New metal
Classic rock
Thats basically all I listen to. New metal tho I am very picky about because most of it is just power cords and a double bass drum.

I grew up on Metallica, Antrax and Ministy.
I love how metal has branched over the last decade. I can listen to anything from melodic lyrics to almost mixed out growls. Just play it fast, crazy and fuel it with that special kind of rage that makes me want to kick my grandmother in the face wearing steel toed boots.

I used to love it, and still have a soft spot for Slayer in particular. Rarely listen to any now though, although my ringtone is South of Heaven, for old times sakes..

Branch out from Disturbed and you'll find some better stuff.

I love metal that has a purpose. I can't stand people that call glamrockers like Dragonforce, Hammerfall and the likes of them metal though.
Current favorites include The Sword (age of winters is a terrific solid metal album. well worth 10 bucks), Hatesphere, Shadows fall and Slayer.

Aw, c'mon. Power metal is metal, too. :)

There is no such thing. Power metal is a phrase coined by glam rockers that were tired of being associated with the poodle rockers of the 80s and wanted to be associated with the gritty metal people.
Power metal ? gimme a break :)

I personally love Meshuggah and Mnemic.
Mnemic is a Danish metalband. They're making it quite alright right now. Warming up for Metallica on three gigs and so on.
check it (http://www.myspace.com/mnemic)
And the new Meshuggah album is awesome! Check out "Bleed":

I liked Mnemic's first two records. Couldn't really get into the latest one.

Okay. well I think there are some great songs hidden on the album. And really like the new lead singer.
Check out "In the Nothingness Black" and "In Control" - both songs have some really catchy choruses, which is true Mnemic. :)
Oh yeah, and a fun fact: At least on the second and the new album, almost all drum tracks were done in the first take. Pretty impressive! :D
