It’s a bajillion years old…
I wish sushisource was still here. He was neat. And he had a kick-butt user icon.

As the forums keep getting updated, all of the old styles will ultimately start breaking down. Unfortunately, you all will have to brace for a point when all of the older styles will no longer work :(
The nice thing is that all styles created from scratch will better scale for a few more years. All of our current styles, with the exception of kirupa.com Revised have been hacked together over 5 major forum updates to simply not break.

I've been using green by sushisource since 199-alongtimeago and I've never had any problem with it.
Still looks good !
Kirupa just ask around I'm sure with a bit of incentive forum members will help repair styles =)

Dude, I'll design one, but you better make it not require a flash header and junk

Nope - just plain HTML! :)
Having the Flash headers and footers made them impossible to maintain. I lost or never had source files for most of them, so all of them contain content that is ridciulously outdated or point to sections that no longer exist.

what if you used XML or php to update the content?

Nope. There won't be any content that requires updating. If you look at kirupa.com Revised style, notice that we have very little content. The footer is just a horizontal strip of text, and the header is just a logo and searchbox :)

can you give us a bunch of screengrabs of the new default themes, so we know what needs stylin?

The only new default theme will be a modified version of kirupa.com Revised. But, outside of specific the width restriction for the header (+ search bar and kirupa.com link), do whatever you want :)
Any of the colors you see on the forums are up for editing as well. Simply open up Firebug in Firefox and just play and edit the CSS to see what ends up happening as well.
