Load pages from a PDF and treat them as images

Hey all,

I was wondering if it's possible to be able to load pages from a PDF document and treat them like images?? Could anyone direct me to a explanation or a good tutorial?

Just to clarify: I'm talking about a movie (SWF) that loads a specified page from a pdf on a storage device (such as a server or a actual CD) and can then treat it like an image (Scale, rotate, apply masks, etc etc).
