I am a 3d modellier and I have made a small web site showing some of my 3d models, I would like to know what people think, there is an email on the main page but no on has told me what they think, if email is not good for you just post your remarks here.

P.S. I know I can't spell very well so please leave that out of your coments.

Thats just absolutely one of the ugliest sites I've ever seen to be completely honest with you. don't take it bad, we just need to get this out of the way before others start posting

You seem very new to this though so let me just say you have a long way to go and can hopefully look back on this and laugh.

The only thing you are missing is a tripod.com logo, JK. Seriously though, why dont you model a cool interface in 3D with buttons and all that? Then animate some button movements with like 5 frames and drop them into flash. Granted, youre gonna need to hit the books.

Word of advice... Single page portfolio, way to go for people showing off small amounts of their work.

Teplarian, maby I do need to rethink my aproch, I am new to webs sites, I gess plain is not quite as simple as I thought.

jhvh1134, 3d web site, I love that Idea, I will have to do that, a 3d site would not only look good it would also show off my 3d modelling skills, I feel like I should have to pay for that Idea, lol.

DooD, I think u may be right, small could be the way to go, if not 3d like jhvh1134 surgests.

P.S. thanks for that U guys.

That is probably the worst and most misguided idea ever.

My 2cents:

Go register a blog account and use the blog to post your work.

See example: http://jinopix.blogspot.com/

Simple, fast, clean. Problem solved. Oh, and don't take this the wrong way, but you need to polish your models, aesthetic, and professionalism before you attempt to sell your work. Just an afterthought.

If you're interested in building your own site from scratch, look at a site you like and try to mimic it. Read tutorials and learn this stuff from the ground up. Otherwise stick to something premade, or made-for-you.

Good luck!

Michael

*EDIT*
You may also want to texture your models and research polygon limits for games. Your models are all low-poly which suggests you are modeling with an afterthought for game engines. The count you're using is comparable to 5 or 6 years ago. You have a lot more freedom these days. Don't forget bump/normal/specular maps.

Yeah, I guess that idea will never work. Way to shoot down an option without even giving one, or at least an explanation as to why it is misguided.

Dont listen to the nay sayers. If you want, I can show you some examples of what I have done using 3d to design interfaces for websites and appications. That might help get the creative juices rolling if your stuck for ideas. Just msg me for them.

I would also have to second this- as blunt as it sounds, it would be super un functional, and a waste of visual weight.

I agree. If you can't bother to create your own clean site, use a clean blog. It's great and allows for comments.

Excellent advice.
