Does anyone know how to save a movieclip/image from a flash movie to users desktop in an image file? The movie will allow the user to create a character and save it to their desktop as an image file. Here is an example http://www.becomeanmm.com/ .

This can't be done in a regular Flash movie, but it can be done using the Air extensions, assuming your users want to go through the installation process and give you file access rights to their computer.

Thanks slmille4 for the reply. You said “assuming your users want to go through the installation process”, does that mean the user will have to install something on there machine before they can save from the .swf file. On http://www.becomeanmm.com/ it didn’t ask for me to install anything. Can you give me a little bit more insight on the topic if you can? Thank you!

This CAN be done from a swf embedded in a webpage however you'll first need to write the file to a server and then download it. It's all a little backwards but this is due to the flash player's security restrictions.
