File Transfer Protocol...

Its a way you can transfer files...

Most used thru the internet to transfer files between computers. When building websites you will use FTP to send your files from your computer to your server.

there is a tutorial here, on how to do it. Make sure to have your host name and everything correct, and find a tutorial to follow.

yeah, i used the tutorial on how o do it.......i just cant find 1 that actually works!!! :(

well, I can try to help you but.. can you go it to more detail whats wrong..

well, i type in whatever my host is, right now its tripod. they come with 1 FTP account. its sends an email after u confirm and says"if u want to use FTP, please connect to this account, here are ur details: account name:k3mical
password: Not going to display here
FTP account:earth.prohosting.com
and then when i go to dreamweaver i enter all the FTP details then i click "test" then it comes up says"server found" then it waits a sec and then it says "waiting for server" and a bar comes up and it loads. then when its finished even though i have tried multiple hosts it says "an ftp error occured-could not connect to host" im so angry, it just doesnt work .

ftp is uploading its just one of the standard protocols used to transfer files :beam:

well it just connects your computer to the server where your website is going to be hosted, so you can upload the files onto te server so your website will be online.

You can also use ftp to connect to other peoples computers but you need to have the ftp information of that persons ftp, its just a way of connecting to another computer, anything else you would like to know buddy, just ask :beam:

if your on tripod, they have their own system for uploading files. Just go to file manager, the choose upload file(s).
