2008: the year of the broken wallet

Man all these great must haves comin out this year will put my wallet on a diet this year..... Gears 2, Fable 2, Vegas 2, Gta IV(hopefully), and a few that skips my mind at the moment... man any1 else feel that this year their wallets and bank accounts will have suddenly sprouted legs and walk out of their lifes forever?

* Fable 2
* Guitar hero 3.5 (Aerosmith one)
* Guitar hero 4
* Rainbow 6, V2
* Warhammer online (if released)
* Spore (if released)


Interestingly, with those titles potentially available.. IGI still voted "Ghostbusters, the game" as the third most anticipated game this year. Super mario smash bro: Brawl came second. .. I wonder what people work there :p

I thought this thread was going to be about $3.50 gasoline, inflation, the housing market, and the lackluster job market. I was strongly mistaken :D

I haven't really had the time to play a lot of games this year all though I have bought quite a few. I still have a bunch of PS2 games as well that I got a couple Xmas' ago and I've never opened them yet. Here's to the hope that I'll have some more free time in the near future :beer:

I hear ya, on top of the games, we've lost HD-DVD, so now I have to buy a PS3/BD player too...

As far as the games go, ya missed a couple as far as I'm concerned:

Yeah I'm thinking of picking up a PS3 MGS Bundle which is backward compatible has MGS and has the new Dual Shock 3 controllers with rumble.

I'm still thinking bout it though I'm hesitant to purchase MGS since the past games have been more watching videos than playing and Kojima just said today that Blu-Ray had little space so that has me very worried I'm thinking its gonna be like 3 hours of actual gaming and 10 in movies and codec conversations with otacon :lol:

But yeah my wallets been crying since the X360 came out :lol:

yah i remember now about SF IV and Left 4 Dead (actual title spelling)... Halo wars looks ok the only peeve of mine is the fact the console RTS's tend to not work as well as with mouses on the PC... Spore looks great but my lackluster PC would never support the game and its massiveness. I loved all the old MGS's but sadly i have a prejudice against sony

L4D and Spore will be the main games I'm getting. I'll just get l4d through steam to be eco friendly.

@sekasi, Spore is completed they just don't want to release it till the holiday buying season.

My friends will have their PS3 by then and said they will be getting LBP and thats a game I really want to play, looks so great.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, I just want it becuase I'm a Zombie fanatic. It looks like your pretty standard FPS which would be nothing special except that it has screaming fast zombies running at you from every direction and was built from the ground up as a cooperative based game.

The last hands-on of it I read sounded great, but again, I'm biased, I worship anything Zombie.

Well, it depends on the RTS man, there have been a couple that did it perfectly. LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 2 on the 360 for instace had nearly flawless control. I played it on both PC and 360 and I strongly preferred the 360 version.

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars for 360 controlled excellently as well. (Great game too btw).

I'm not saying that HaloWars will be as good, but it is possible.

I hear what you're saying. I dig zombie meat grinders too. I even liked dead rising although it was the same thing for 10 hours straight :P

Problem with L4D as I see it though is that it has graphics that make me think 1999 and counterstrike. The movement and animation seems really stale and the whole concept "You are 4, you need to survive" works great if you got 4 buddies that don't suck at xbox, but as soon as you venture online you KNOW how its gonna be. It's gonna be you and 3 12 year olds that start shooting at walls and scream "LOL DID YOU SEE THAT HE BLEW UP HAHA LOL" into the mic.

Its basically HL2's graphics. I mean it is the Source engine so its going to play exactly the same as HL2 CS:S and these games play the best IMO for shooter. I just love the Source engine to death.

Sekasi, if you played CS:S enough, you would know that most servers ban people with voices like that. Why do you have to care so much for graphics I mean I can seriously sit through HL2 and its (i love their graphics) lower end graphics all day long and have the best time ever. Plus it means that anyone with even 3 year old computers can play it perfectly fine.

//edit, plus don't forget about lans, imagine all really skilled players in one area trying to kill the 4 people.

I think you're underestimating the amount of twelve year olds on XboX live.

At any rate, WE are the ones that will get banned because we dont lol enough.
