View Full Version : Should we have an AIR subtopic?

So AIR just came out.

But AIR isn't necessarily AS3-specific. And questions involving AIR typically involve classes and issues not available from within the Flash player.

I'd really like an AIR subtopic, to keep the AS3 subtopic mostly AIR-free, and to make AIR-related forum threads easier to navigate. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

For there to be a sub forum, there needs to be lots of tutorials on the front page about it.

I really would like to see not only an AIR subforum but a flex subforum as well. Regardless of the tutorials available for it. I would assume that by discussion, tutorials would come about.

For there to be a sub forum, there needs to be lots of tutorials on the front page about it.

So if someone makes a bunch of tutorials, and puts them on the front page, a subforum appears?

I see. So an AIR subforum will appear once there is enough interest. That's only fair.

Well as much as I respect Kirupa and this community, that is an absurd reason not to have a forum. The whole chicken and the egg conundrum. I am sure with questions being posed in a forum sub section, there would be content spawned to fill the void.

Yes - to avoid the chicken and egg conundrum, there is a clear path for a forum to get its wings: Tutorials -> Forum.

We've tried many times in the past to force interest by creating a forum first, and it has never worked out.

Well, in lieu of a chicken, perhaps I can produce an egg myself, given some time. :2c:
