Today Adobe unveiled the first release version of their AIR runtime technology.

You can find out more information about Adobe Air on the official web page. http://www.adobe.com/products/air/

I expect we'll see a lot of cool applications release in the next month or so. It should be interesting to see what the first batch of 1.0 apps will consist of.

The 1.0 release is significant in that it will signify it's readiness for business application development. I expect a lot of businesses to begin their AIR application development now that the 'beta' has been dropped.

This should be interesting...

In related news, Flex 3 is out of beta as well (which makes sense given that that's what many people will use to develop AIR applications, but it seems worth mentioning).

Gotta say I'm really impressed with the pricing of Flex, yet again.

$99 to upgrade? That's a sweet deal if I ever saw one.

(it's $249 for the standard edition if you've never got in on the action before)

AIR is of course still $0, which is an even sweeter deal!

That one's been around for a little while. I really like it!

I was completely shocked when my Color Browser app showed up on the "Thank You" page. Especially since I hadn't updated it to 1.0 yet, and had a couple bugs to fix :worried:. So I scrambled around and posted a new version this morning. Lots of downloads for it now though. AIR is going to change things for a lot of people.

Looks like it only works with Actionscript 3.0. Now I have to get away from AS 2.0. At least now I have more of a reason. Because I'm sure there will be more sweet apps along the way that will only work with AS3.

There is currently a count of 0 (zero) applications that I want to remotely install.

remotely install.

What do you mean with remotely install?

He means that he doesn't want to install anything that is available right now, he isn't even "remotely close" to wanting to either. He doesn't mean install remotely aka. from somewhere else. :P
