I think I'm gonna get a PS3. I'm thinking about getting Assassin's Creed and mebbe CoD4, since it's fun on the PC, heh.
So, what are your favorite games?

Don't get CoD4 for a console. There's no point to it if you've already gotten it for the PC... I might say go get Resistance lol...but since its been out for so long I have no idea. Try reading some reviews on ign.com for the PS3. That might help you come up with a list.

I don't have a PS3, but I've heard great things about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Also, in two months time, you should definitely pick up GTA IV. It's looking amazing.

Drakes fortune is one of the most decent games the console has but it has nothing a Tomb Raider/Resident Evil hasn't done before.
But with the current library of games its one of the best if not the best game the console has out right now.
If you like button mashers I suggest you get Devil May Cry 4 and Heavenly Sword another game you might like is ratchet and clank if your into platformers.
I don't have a PS3 most of you know I'm a X360  but I played these on my friends PS3 and they were decent nothing mindblowing or innovative about them but they will keep you entertained if you already purchased the Blu-Ray player

I'm really just wondering, what is there different between console and PC? Are the graphics better, are there differences in SP and MP gameplay. I know about all the modding opportunities available with almost all PC versions of a game. But are there any extra out-of-the-box features that set the PC version apart from the console versions? (This is a question, it's not sarcasm.)

^You could plug anytype of game controller into the PC no-matter what console its from
and:
All of the gaming components are sealed inside the unit. If there should be a problem you will have to replace most or all of unit, losing game data.
Once a console becomes outdated you cannot up grade without buying a new console.
The games are not transferable. You can't take an Xbox game and play it in a PlayStation etc.
The list goes on if you want it

First of all your wrong both X360 and PS3 have removable HDD and theres always memory cards so you wont lose any game saves or Data like you mention here.
Second, Upgrading a PC is way more expensive than purchasing a new console heck video cards alone can cost more than a console.
The same can be said about PC games you cant play a PC game on a Mac or Linux box also dont expect the game to perform the same on a lower specced PC consoles no matter what always perform the same regardless if its a first gen or last gen console.
Oh and you can use keyboard and mouse support on both consoles the only reason this features is not more widespread is because developers dont enable it because theyre more focused on getting casual gamers to play more games so expect controllers and button mappings to get simpler in the future take the Wii for example and fyi UTIII supports keyboard mouse and mods on PS3.
Oh and Dan are you serious rumors are FFXIII is delayed till 2010  atleast they got MGS to look forward to this June but I'll be too busy playing Ninja Gaiden 2 to care

@InfestedDemon: I know the hardware-related differences between consoles and PC, my question was specifically about any differences in Call of Duty 4 between PC and consoles.

Essentially no. The graphics mainly are the same (obviously depending on your set up, and HDTV etc). The only difference I've been able to come across, is how you can't "lean" right/left on the consoles (correct me if I'm wrong). But that is so helpful when playing CoD4 online on the PC. Plus, in my opinion...only real FPS can be played on the PC because no controller can beat a keyboard and a mouse combo in terms of speed and accuracy. So meh.

Well I'm really happy with my PS3 and of the games I have, my favs right now are definitely Burnout, Drakes, UT3, Resistance was a good piece of badassness but wait till part 2 comes out, almost Have to get GTAIV when it's available, Heavenly sword was Beautiful dude, but its short as nutzack lol. It actually kinda pissed me off how short it was. But by the time you hear her say "What More Do You Want?!" you're hooked. Of course a good bit of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.. But those are the more recent ones I can remember that I have lol. Don't get AsZes Creed for PS3 because it's better for 360 (I got my bros a 360 n a Wii so that we can enjoy all of em lol) - and I'm a real stickler for not purchasing a game that's sub-par on the PS3 console just because the developers rushed out a port. Not for 60 bux, you know? Anyway, happy hunting with the game search, oh! Warhawk's not bad, either - but I've honestly played the game like 3 times since I got it in August or whenever, sO I doubt highly that I'm one to comment on that one..

This will be yet another big post. Sorry:D

Assassin's Creed is a fun game. The parkourish(new word) movement looks neat but I found the actually fighting very shallow. Fun game, not worth $60. Maybe when the price comes down?
You might wanna think about holding out for Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in March if you're on a budget and like tactical shooters.
My suggestion to you is to rent some games if you really don't know what you want to buy. $60 is a big investment for some people and you don't wanna be duped.

Will do

Using a jump drive to transport saved game data is one of the best advances in games. This might not be an important feature for some people but I use it all the time when I got to my friend's house(or vice versa.)
Making a gaming PC is super expensive initially and to maintain, sure they give you a deeper experience but I don't think the bang is worth the buck.
We'll I'll be playing the multiplayer demo in April, so I'll be way too busy to play a hack and slash(not a big fan of action games.)

I don't want to start a war or anything, but I have never understood this sentiment. How could playing a game using tools clearly not designed for gaming ever be better than playing using a controller specifically designed for games. The Xbox 360 controller in particular is perfectly suited to FPS games.
This is the only argument for PC gaming that I totally disagree with. I find PC controls awkward and slow.
Anogar, I also recommend Burnout Paradise and Rainbow Six Vegas. RSV2 is looking great as well. I didn't like Assassin's Creed at all. I borrowed it from my flatmate, but gave it back after about an hour. It's very dull and repetitive right from the get go.

I think you have to play certain games to agree/disagree with that statement. Your totally right, you really need a gamepad when playing non-FPS games, like Racing, and especially Flying Sims. However, gamepads really aren't intuitive IMO for FPS. I think that's why many "PC" FPS players kinda look down upon the Console ones since they "require" less twice (I dunno..since using a nub is still twitch, but I just prefer the mouse and keyboard).

Thanks Theros! I'm still not sure though, especially since all of my buds play on the 360, I would be quite lonely on the PC. But hey, I'm really not that social on CoD4. Everyone says I'm "deathly silent" when I play it.

Being a former world champion in Quake3 (:D) I'd have to say no controller will ever come close to the swiftness and accuracy of a mouse+keyboard no matter how godly you are with max sensitivity on a digital or analog stick.
Sorry :(

Sorry :(Yep, don't you love it at 64 player tournaments after several constant hours and your down to that flick of a wrist where each shot is directly on someones head. I'm of course talking about COD2 and Unreal though. Good to know that every one of those 2000 DPI's are being used.
