View Full Version : I guess 3d is the flavor lately

A project for University in a class I already took once.

Had to model a toy we found, using 3dsm and then combine it with some parts from another class member's toy. I made the overall car and stuff attached. Another classmate had made the legs that I cleaned up and fixed some geometry in then adjusted to fit the model. Chose the materials.

-The car body itself has some geometry issues as you can see but it's too late to fix now (arg box modeling, should have used poly).

Currently in the process of animating it, had to set some bones and IK solvers + dummies (having some issues with animation but not bad).

This was rendered with mental ray, using a daylight system for lighting. Minor tweaks done to curves and levels in PS.

Pretty much just a quick and dirty model for a uni class.

lol, for a quick and dirty model it's still better then any I have made. Nice work.:thumb2:

thanks, but quick is a relative term.

it took about 6 hours on the low end if you include edits done at home and class. plus several hours of experimentation.

I don't think the scales blend in very well with the car. I like the rest tho, I think it is very neat.

they don't blend in at all. they're just polygons with a different material on the same model. the geometry problems limited what I could do. I guess I could have camfered the hell out of the seam but it was too late.

scales are just a bump map on the black material so they aren't part of geometry (just a texture).

hehe rough but still a cool little mess of whatever it is, I dig the concept. Keep us posted if you ever get back to this and polish off the rough areas. :)

well from a modelers point of view it is not perfect, but who cares, it looks funny and pretty cool. yes it needs some work, but i still like it and its concept.
