Easy question for photoshop 7 users!

How do i save ONLY the selection?

In flash mx, i can save something as a png and it will come into photoshop as selection (drawing) only.

I need to do something in photoshop, and bring it into flash, but no work area, just the image (my logo).

It will be awful it it's not possible :(

With your selection, hit Ctrl X to cut it out then open a new file and hit Ctrl P to paste it. Now your selection will be a seperate file for you to do whatever you want.

I'm not sure if you can copy it directly into flash, I know that you can save it out and then import it in though.

What would i save it as, so that only the selection comes in?

I tried jpeg, png and a few others...:-\

See...i found a better way to achieve the glint effect :P

Can you remember the file extension it should be saved under?

Unfortunately - u can't paste just the selection in Flash from Photoshop - it puts in a white square around it. So the only way I have found to do it is: make your thing in photoshop then import it in Fireworks - select it - then invert your selection and delete everything u don't need - export as PNG - and then put import it in Flash (Flash will accept it from Fireworks without putting in that annoying little border).

Or the hard way (if u don't have fireworks) is bring it into flash - break it apart and then start chopping off the areas u don't need.

Ok,

i took my image to fireworks,
Selected the image,
Then did selection--inverse,

now what? How do i delete the area i don't need :-\

Try hitting DEL - if that doesn't work I'll be able to tell u in about an hour when i get home from work cause that's where I got Fireworks. If I don't have the program in front of me I seem to forget how to do stuff :crazy: :sigh:

Basically this is what happened:

1. i created a logo (clean vector one remember?) in flash mx
2. I saved it as a .png and imported into PhotoShop7
3. Messed about with it a bit and made it look pretty

Now i want it back in flash mx to animate :bad:

BUT i want ONLY the logo (selection) no border or white space or any of that nonsense.

How do i get it back to flash as JUST the image....no border?

export it again as a png. If you have fireworks I would drag it through there first since they have .png 32 there. But in any case export it as a .png from where ever. pick alpha transparency and no matte. You shold be good to go. I thin someone else mentioned this also

try using the extract tool, and cut out the background. the you will just have the logo. the go to Edit - Select All. and then Edit - Copy. then paste it in flash as a MC or something like that.

If your png is on a transparent bgrd when you export it. when you import it into flash it should still be transparent. I think I am lost as th o what has been done and what you are trying to do.

If it is a psd then u can open it in Fireworks - select it and paste it into Flash - it will keep your selection - I just tested it...

why does he have to select it? If it is transparent while in PS all he has to do is export it as a png 24 with no matte? Well I think I am confused I am staying out of this one.
