Hi all,

There are tons of how-to's for 3d navigation effects, but I'm interested in something that is seemingly quite simple yet I've had a hard time finding anything helpful. I want to create an animation that starts as if you are looking from above at a group of rectangles. The animation then "pans" down (rectangles appear to move upwards and back) to reveal that they are really rectangular prisms, which, when you are facing them head-on, form an image of something. It's like looking at an object from above, then moving down to look at it at eye-level, and realizing in the process of changing perspective that the object looks very different.

Any suggestions on where I can find more info on this topic?

Thanks!

Have you tried papervision3d. Check it out. It will do this and more for you. You require CS3 and AS3 however to get everything working to the best. AS2 version is also available but it will get obsolete someday. Choose to upgrade instead to AS3. Papervision3d 2 is codenamed Great white at present.
