I have a 40GB HD that I pulled out of my old PC which has tons of stuff on it (photos mostly) which I need back.
It worked fine on my old PC, I had it internally.
I have an IDE to USB 2.0 cable and it won't reconize the HD, a baloon pops up and says it's not regonized and it won't mount the drive.
I'v used this HD with an IDE to USB cable before with no problems.
Any suggestions?

Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Check if there is any icon there with a little ! sign. If there is, open its properties and then click on Reinstall drivers. Try that out, fixes most of my USB problems.

It wont pick up on a USB cable unless the Master/slave pin jumper is set as advised by the cable manual (Usually set to master w/o slave).

Yeah thought it might have been that, how do I set it as master?
I got a little blue jumper thing from my motherboard and put it in 2 of the pins but it still won't pick up the HD. Same problem as before.
