I've never gamed much, mostly because my video card has always been the onboard crap ones. Now that I've got a decent (it's not bad is it?) one in my new comp, what can I do with it? What games run fine on it? What games don't?

The 8600 will probably be able to run most games, not at full spec but will run any modern game.
If you look on nVidia's website there's a comparison chart, the 8600 is designed for a gamer so you shoulden't have problems.

Well the 8600GT is better than my 8400GS... and I can play oblivion BF2 Bioshock, WoW at everything maxed and its like a really high fps.

You can pretty play any current games with the good ole 8600 GT. It's powerful enough...especially if you overclock it. Course, you can't play Crysis at high settings, but fully playable at Medium is definitely respectable.
