HOW can I transform a movie *avi in *mpeg...?

Because I want to put on a DVD at television...I need a mpg

I am guessing that you have an .avi that you want to convert to an .mpg(.mpeg) First off you will need to have a mpeg encoder. If you are converting this for use on a VCD or SVCD you will need to make sure the mpeg encoder is compatable with those formats. There are many mpeg encoders out there, do a web search and you should be able to find one that works. Some of them are not cheep...

Just wondering why you dont want to leave the file as an .avi? VCD is the only reason I could think of to convert the file. =)
