HELP - kirupa platform game

hi, i need help making my character jump like the one in the kirupa platform game. when i press the UP button my character squats down but doesn't go up in the air. the character moves left, right, attacks and dies. i also need help on how to make the character shoot.

i basically copied the code from ball onto my character.

You probably got the code copied wrong if it isn't working.
Make sure you have all the instance names set up right.

I'm guessing you've got the actions but you have to define some thing like gravity where is the character jumping to define the X and Y or what actions it does. There's some tutorials you could copy. Go to google search tutorialized it's a cool site for beginners
