I like the shapes, although it might seem a bit cramped. Another thing is the frame rate. What fps are you using? My machine isn't the best, but it hangs on just fine, and the animations got sloppy on me.
And another thing I would advise against is using Flash components in your portfolio site. IMO, that's a big no-no. You should create your portfolio from bottom up, no middle men :)
Overall, it isn't top of the line, but it is heading that way. All it needs is a little more work.
Hope this helps your perspective :)
Cheers

You've got a really nice design going on there... A few pointers though - I would bump you're frame rate up so you don't get that jerky motion on your buttons, I would also look into using some sort of tweening engine for them, if you haven't used one before, you'll wonder what you did without it... check out tweenlite (http://www.tweenlite.com)
On another note I put up an easy way to use deeplinking and tweening in the 'source' section, you can download it from here. (http://www.liamr.com/blog/?p=53)
Hope this helps... If I can be of any use gimme a shout

I like the color concept, but the actual palette seems a bit off... the text needs a bit more contrast. The gray is too light, the red/gray combos are kinda ghastly.
Those tab tweens are pretty rough. Speed that **** up, yo. And set a rolloff action to have them slide back into place instead of just snapping. The target areas seem off as well, i'm triggering the top tab as well when i rollover the middle one.
Think about the navigation/ structure a little more- it doesn't make all that much sense right now and is kind of confusing.
Really, the overall concept is nice and minimal and pretty- just roll out them kinks and you're gold.

Animations are really slow and the site is pretty tiny. I think you can utilize the browser space a little more for a better experience.
You're using flash but the page is refreshing when I click on the work links. That shouldn't happen and you need to style the links a little. Pretty boring as it is.

I find the text hard to read, the colours (especially the red) a little jarring, and the whole thing a bit cramped. Not a fan of the rounded corners either.
Cool concept though.

Hi I am getting a white border when entering the site 'click to activate' easy to get rid of tho and the Text is getting lost as mentioned above remember that 50/50 balance between text and graphic 'if that makes sense' that your text is as important as your design's animations ect also try customize your scroll bars. cool nice work drop me a mail if you have any Q's?
thanks

Change the text color, its to hard to read. Change the transition at the beginning so that it accelerates and change the fps to 30

1) click to activate and use this control
2) wait, is it 12 fps?
3) lack of content...
4) no life : too white..put in some elements in there...possibly some sound fx and looping background sound...
do that and then we will talk more ;)

Don't mess with my browser. . .
As soon as my browser resized I closed the tab. Using JavaScript to mess with people's window size is terrible practice. Unless you plan on annoying the hell out of your visitors, don't do it.

The contrast on the enter site button is not really good. the normal state should at least contrast as much as what you have going in your over state.
- clicking that enter button. Hmm, what's the point of having an enter button, when you could just display the content upfront?
Again, the body type does not have enough contrast as well as those side tabs, which has the full type obscured by the other tabs.
I think you really need to work on functionality and readability.

Looks good - fun and simple.
Couple things: up your framerate - usually about 30 is what I use. Maybe do some onRollOuts for your navigation.

I could not agree more, it's like as if you came in my home and moved my belongs all around for the hell of it.
If your worried about browser scale and stage size try looking to fix it with in flash as there is an API for the stage.
"Bad designer! You get no cookie for monkeying with my browser!"
As for other elements of the site try to fix color contrast with some of your fonts. Try to play with kerning of your fonts and maybe resize your fonts for better placement and readability. IF you have too much content use better organization or more real estate of your screen. ow yeah and GIANT mammarys ( o)(o ) all ways make a better website!

Note: Jamie did not read through all 15+ replies, so maybe what I'm saying has already been covered. Oh well!
1. Menu rollover tween needs to be precisely 3.5658 times faster
2. Font colour on menu items is gray, should be white, it looks kind of muddled being gray. (Same goes for "Enter Site")
3. "Active Projects" is cut off by "Contact" -- lack of attention to detail here.
4. Get rid of your serif font for body content, and make it a shade darker gray.
5. Stop the spinning Blog badge.
6. Within your Work section, you can definitely find a more creative way to display your content then just a list of links. Take some screenshots, write some descriptions, and make the links point to a _blank window so that users don't leave your site.
7. Once a user clicks a link, you take them to a new html page, where you have filled up your "Works" menu item with a TINY freaking list of links, with a serif font. Have you even heard of Bitmap/Pixel fonts?? And why is the font colour gray again? theres no contrast between the gray and the orange. White text white text!!
8. You have a preloader, but its so small and out of the way no one notices it.
9. "My Profile" link points to some kind of speech bubble popup, which is cool. The only thing that isn't cool is the tiny serif font that is also cut off by the "X" button.
10. Why do your input fields have a black outline on your Contact page? where did the black come from???
Its a decent start, but for a live site, it needs a TON of work. Mostly small detail things that the general population won't notice, but most designers/developers will -- they reflect on you as a designer and your attention to detail. Which, as of right now, I can't really say you have any of.

Fps up way to 30-50 like stated. As well as, don't mess with my browser window. Your site is sooo small, you don't need to make the window bigger.
