Just saw this on Saturday night, I liked it. Very funny, but also just a good movie. At first, I thought it was a little too Napolean Dynamite-ish, but it definitely came into its own after a bit.

I'd never heard of this Ellen Page girl that plays Juno, but she's pretty damn funny. And Michael Cera is always hilarious, so that alone makes it worth seeing. Pretty much everyone in it does a good job.

I suck at writing reviews. Just go see it.

Ellen Page is a wonderful actress. I don't think she's done many films but her last one that I am aware of is Hard Candy (http://www.hardcandymovie.com/). It's a brilliant movie. Superbly shot and with a really dark storyline.

Juno looks great and I'm looking forward to its release over here. Jason Bateman is in it too isn't he? You can't go wrong with Jason Bateman.

Yeah, Bateman's in it and does very well.

The movie starts out kind of bad, like shane mentioned it has a sort of Napolean Dynomite vibe going on but as it progresses it turns into a really good movie. Wish the whole thing was consistently awesome :(

Apparently it was a chick flick. I didn't know at all and thought it was awesome.

It doesn't look chick-flicky to me. :ninja:

Heard a lot of good things about this movie as well. I download a podcast called "FilmSpotting" (Which I heartly recommend) and they've been championing it for a while. They mention the same thing about the start and how it's a little off but turns into an amazing movie and they rave about Ellen Page's performance.

I am looking forward to see it. Think it hits the UK in the middle of Feb.

I loved it. I love fox searchlight films. - well since shane didn't throw up a review, I'll post my ramble :

I loved Juno (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467406/). Nice and neat indie film by Fox Searchlight (http://www.imdb.com/company/co0028932/), which finally came out here. The premise revolves around the journey of teenage pregnancy, and is cast in an upbeat, and quirky light. It has its great personal level, where you follow the life of a pregnant teenage girl, as she tries to settle her pregnancy in the least stressful manner. Both Ellen Page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680983/) and Michael Cera (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0148418/)brought a great vibe to the film, keeping it humorous but retaining some unexpected emotion through the complications of pregnancy.

Juno was a crazy and colourful character. One of those crazy high school chicks who is super fun and nutty, but tomboyish and kinda embarrassing to hang out with around friends. It’s really easy to attach to her character, and the dark awkwardness of the situation sees her character evolve into a more matured, informed and inspired person, as she battles her way through.
Probably the Little Miss Sunshine of ‘07/ ‘08 (which is one of my faves), which is really where I want to see more drama/comedies to be at! I really hope more great Fox indie films like this start hitting our shores, because the writing behind them is great. Nice, and rich stories, with none of the stupid hype and big A-grade actors to add commercial stiffness to great films.

I wouldn't have said that this film was a chick-flick. I thought it was a pretty awesome film.

Edit: Pork-swords makes me cringe.

Thirded.

I saw it a short while ago after much peer pressuring, and I really liked it. I tend to like movies with no redeemable qualities to them whatsover (lots of stuff getting blown up, internal organs flying around, etc.), but I really liked this one.

I liked it so much that I saw it again a few minutes ago :P

I hated it. They could have gotten the same message across if they put a giant billboard across the screen for the whole length of the movie saying "TEEN PREGNANCY IS OKAY. SO DON'T BE WORRIED IF YOU HAVE A BABY AT AGE 12" :| Personally, I don't think they were sending a good message to teens. At ALL. :m:

I think you are so incorrect in saying that. I think a good majority of the movie has to do with acceptance, the pregnancy is merely a test for other characters. I don't think any preteen girl will watch that movie and after seeing what Juno goes through say "pregnancy is all about tic tacs!"I hated it. They could have gotten the same message across if they put a giant billboard across the screen for the whole length of the movie saying "TEEN PREGNANCY IS OKAY. That's youurrrr opinion. :proud:

EDIT: Anyway, Juno's pregnancy was all her own doing because the made the wrong decisions. Her pain was totally self-inflicted.

why would a preteen want to have a baby after juno? because they know that someone will still love them afterwards? I hope that's true whether or not they get pregnant anyway. That's youurrrr opinion. :proud:

Why is it that only idiotic conservatives like you manage to so successfully and frequently find these sorts of 'corrupting' messages in perfectly innocuous popular culture materials? :violin:

Frankly, because "pop" culture is corrupting!

You're neither old enough nor intelligent enough to have a thoughtful conversation about this sort of thing. You just believe whatever you've been told by your conservative parents.

I think the fact that Juno ended being in your "pop" culture is a fluke in itself. I can't imagine anyone pictured this thing being nominated for an oscar, let alone 3.

Actually, my parents have never discussed that topic with me. It's just my insight on the crazy world around me.

Wasn't Juno PG-13?

Anyway, not to feed trolls, but I thought it was great. If you are trying to find insidious messages, you always will. Is Ironman suggesting that we should be irresponsible and blow up things? Is Batman suggesting we should act frivolously during the day and be a creep at night? Is Wall-E suggesting machine consummation?

it was ok, some fun parts,

but had insane stuff like a cheerleader fancying an overweight middle aged history teacher.

"this is what real life is",

I'd admit the real world is topsy turvy compared to Hollywood, but still :P
