Finally finished my first ever flash site.

I'd like to thank all the people over at the help forum for helping me with all the problems I had. In particular Digitalosophy who seemed to answer all my questions about using flash.

The site itself is quite bare at the moment as I don't have much to show in my portfolio.

All constructive comments are appreciated.

this is really good for your first one. All you need to do is add more content.

Great job!:)

extremely good first site.

the text in the contact portion shouldn't be dynamic i'm guessing.
also the moving circles and squares might look better in a shade of brown instead of the contrasting white

keep up the good work

other than what claudio and converge said, i thought your site was great for a first. i think after you fill it up with some more content, it will start to develop more. nice work. =) and we hope to see you around more.

Contact text is too small and jammed up. Maybe you didn't embed the font you were using? The whole site looks very professional and clean.

The design it looks quite clean but what it is the purpose of the banner at the top?:hair:

That's just me playing around with flash, serves no purpose I know but i'm shallow :)

Thanks to everyone who has replied to my post. I do plan on making a lot of changes in the next few weeks. There are still aspects of the site that I hate, portfolio mainly.

I have a few new projects going on at the moment including two pieces of freelance work (no flash sadly), so i'll leave the site as it is for now.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time for a critique.

lol, well i feel that every site needs some "eye candy" and the header i just made for my new site really serves no purpose either, just takes up space and looks cool

that's very good. But are you sure it's your first site, if it's at version 3?

His version 1 and 2 could have been static HTML web sites.

V1 and V2 were both static HTML sites. I have a pic of V2 up on my site. It was quite a nice site and I enjoyed making it, but like always as soon as I had finished it I started to spot faults and after a week or two I hated it :(

I really want to make another flash site, i've got tons of ideas I want to try. Sadly both sites i'm working on at the moment don't need any Flash.

Is it ok to do a static HTML site check? I should finish one of the sites in the next few days.

ahh yes, sorry about that, your site is very very good, the transitions seem to skip around and are slightly slow, otherwise your site isn't just "good for a first site" its just plain great!

I spotted a tiny grammer error in the Profile/Fun section it says "I am an avid..."

how did you get your transitions? that is what is preventing me from further work on my site. please let me in.
yeah post them! it doesnt have to be flash at all!

site critique:
WOW! for a first flash site that is very good! you got tranistions which i feel are very hard to do, and everything seems to flow, the colours are great also.

Flaws: You forgot to embed a few text boxes, which is not good cause i cant read them. other than that you are off to a great start!

If you mean the transitions between pages then these are simply tweens at the beginning of a movie. For example when you click on the portfolio button, the portfolio movie is loaded. The first part of the portfolio movie is a preloader, once that is done tween animation is played and the once that completes the movie is stopped so that it doesn't loop over again.

I'm not sure if this is the correct way of doing things, I was pretty much making it up as I went along. I do plan on changing a lot of things but this time I will sit down and plan everything out, at the moment I basically just hacked away till I got something I liked.

Can you explain to me the problem with the text boxes? A few people have mentioned this but I don't understand. What do you mean I forgot to embed them, do they not appear? I have checked the site and I presumed that unlike html the pages would display the same on all PC's thanks to using Flash.

no, if you do not have the font it will not display. you have the font so you wont see a difference. if you are using dynamic text boxes go through each box, click character in teh lower right on the pref bar, and choose all. then everyone will be able to see your font.

Thanks for the help, I think I have fixed the problem now. Could you take a look and tell me if you can see all of the text.

Thanks.

Very nice site..
When you hit contact.. the font that says
Name
E-Mail
Is very ugly.. make it the font you used for the copyright..
Whats that font called you used for copyright anyways?

Ok i'm confused now.

The font that I am using for the contact page is exactly the same as the 'copyright notice'.

It is just simple static text, I thought that static text would render exactly the same on each computer even if the font wasn't available.

The font is called 'Pixel_Kroeger 5_56'
