Let me first say Will Smith did a great job in this movie. Can't really say anything about the movie other than its good without giving away what the movies about.

I was looking through the Graphic Novel and it helps explain everything in the movie.

A few weird things.

It was a lot of fun; I liked it a lot, minus the cheesy Christian lines at the end. :P

It was ok. The CGI was a bit ho hum though, and it does dump pretty hard on the original story and the original story's principles/plot. Smith carried this movie through, else it would have been a considerable mess.

My zombie plan now has a dog in it thanks to this movie.

I havent seen it yet, but from the trailers ive seen i sense a strong similarity to 28days later.
I loved the movie. Will Smith did GREAT. The cheesy Christian lines were awesome and should be in every movie. Oh did I say that? haha jk

I liked it overall, not as good as I expected but still a very enjoyable movie.

I thought this movie was a total bomb. I expected so much and yet got only so little.

That 588 million people died or were turned into zombies doesn't provoke much of an emotional response, yet the very idea of having to put my dog down saddens me deeply. http://www.senocular.com/smilies/dunno.gif

I was thinking that too. I agree its a pritty decent film but (IMO) its not as good as 28 days later.
The cheesy Bob Marley bit and the ending kinda annoyed me. :/

I think the story was really good 'till the end. What the hell? Why??!!?!?!

^Because then they would be copying the ending of Dawn of the Dead where they escape, but everyone gets killed.
It needed a happy ending.

I was literally depressed after that movie. There were some great things about I Am Legend, but it's tough to see them through the depressing plot/events.

saw this yesterday. I left feeling a bit like the movie missed something. I think there needed to be more development of his research, and the fact that they go down into the lab and there is the zombie who is starting to recover, that was a bit tacky. The emotional part with the dog were stunning, and you really felt for the character, i even felt the whole cinema realise that where he knows he has to put the dog down. But yeah the ending, its really didnt satisfy me. It was only an hour 30 movie. felt to me like, ooh we are runing out of budget, we better rap this up.

^Exactly how I felt, I was disappointed in the ending and hoped for a book ending. I hope they give us all the stufv they cut out on DVD right away.
So do you think the mutants set that trap with the dummy or did he do it and forget about it? They didn't seem smart enough to do set that trap to me.

He wouldn't be a legend if he didn't die. It would of been something like "I Am Hero" if he didn't die. Nonetheless, I was disappointed that he died.
InfestedDemon

Yeah, but he could've died a bit better, I wouldn't call him legend I would call him suicidal ("I Am Suicidal")

He deserves an Oscar for the scene when he chases his dog into the dark building, I don't do thriller or suspense when I'm watching films but that part literally had my eyes wide open, jaw hanging in anticipation and fingernails dug 3cm into the fabric of the cinema chair...
I havent seen it yet, but from the trailers ive seen i sense a strong similarity to 28days later.
I believe 28 days later was based on the same book, but you might like to confirm that.
I enjoyed the movie - despite their religeous justification for his zombie pwning actions when who really needs one?! My (geeky) girlfriend didn't like the movie because she got too hung up on the fact that they didn't go into enough detail about how they cured the cancer or moddified the measles virus. Go figure.

I agree, him being as scared as he was seemed believeable and it got me tense. I believe my daughter hid her head the entire time we had to tell her what happened later.
And for the people who didn't like that he died, if you read the book or saw Omega Man he had to die. It just would have been better if they followed the book ending. Even the death scene in Omega Man is 100 times better than this remake.
The book cliffhanger is so good though, I just can't believe they passed on it.
I didnt think it was Oscar worthy but very good. The thing I hated about the movie was I really didnt realize it was the whole world until almost at the end. I thought it was just New York, thus why they destroyed the bridge and such. Shouldnt say hated it, but..... I thought this one was done a bit better than some of the other mass destruction movies, like 28 days and those kinds. Will Smiths acting was impressive and it was believable. I actually think I felt his despair at times, and was on the edge of my seat quite a few times. The CG on the car scene at times was shaky.

LMAO......Never go into a review thread for a movie if you hadn't seen it. Dont feel bad, someone ruined the ultimate movie ending for my brother it was hella funny too.... He was walking into the theater to watch The Sixth Sense and some dude walked up to him and was like "I cant believe I didn't realize Bruce Willis was dead the whole time"
I fell out laughing when he told me that. He said he watched the whole movie knowing Bruce Willis was dead. Classic.
One thing that threw me off the trail. Was I thought there was going to be a whole thing with the Zombies gaining intelligence and some fight scene with the dude that seemed to run the Zombies (and it seemed that was his chick Will Smith bagged 'literally'). Kinda of a let down that that never happened. Yet it was kinda cool that it did send me for a loop.

First off... I put spoiler tags around the spoilers. Some of you are ridiculously inconsiderate about that stuff.
Second... I didn't like the movie at all. Mainly I thought it was ridiculously predictable from start to finish. I thought Will Smith did a good acting job, but I wasn't feelin the movie as a whole.

One part that infuriated me however (and wasn't to do with acting, was to do with story directing, was when he got strung up by the zombie who set the trap for him. When he fell down onto his knife or whatever it was, that part was good. What annoyed me was it was dragged out (quite literally) for what seemed like an eternity. He pulls himself along the floor for nearly 3 minutes and as he gets close to the car he realises SHlT! I STILL HAVE ONE WORKING LEG! and gets up and hops the rest of the way in less than 10 seconds... For a doctor who is supposedly smart enough to save the human race and develop complex genetic solutions to diseases, as well as a history in the services, to not realise he could limp the whole way there. You fool Robert, thanks to your inherent idiocy your dog had to be put down...
lol...why would you use the spoiler tags in a thread about a movie review? To me that is common sense that you are going to hear tidbits about the movie after all they are reviewing/discussing it.... Not to mention I never knew we had spoiler tags :trout: Ill use em next time.
This movie could have been so much more. It had a commonly used premise but could have been done a bit better. If it werent for Will Smith this movie would have failed miserably. And just think, we used to call this dude "Fresh Prince".

I wouldn't call them zombies, they are more like animals reminded me of those morlok things from The Time Machine. I think the dog had more intel than they did.

Boring movie. Too much CGI (and poorly done, to boot) and a terrible ending.
It reminded me of I, Robot with vampires. Or zombies. Or zombpires or whatever.
I did enjoy the little nuances, like Smith having works from the Met in his house, and the Batman/Superman movie poster, among other things.

The ending totally ruined it. Apparently it wasn't even the ending that was supposed to be on there, but the initial ending showed badly with focus groups. It was a huge step from the book, and the whole concept of the movie - that he was actually the bad guy, the 'boogie man' if you will.
