Changing the styles of file inputs

In HTML, how can I change the style of 'file' inputs? For example, on the reply page, how did the authors of VBulletin change something like
this: http://www.skehin.com/misc/file1.gif
to this: http://www.skehin.com/misc/file2.gif

I assume it has something to do with CSS.

As you say: style = CSS
unfortunately, your images don't show, so i don't know what you want to style? the button, the input field..?
