Metalcore is quickly becoming one of my more preferred genre's of obnoxious music.
Bands like On Broken Wings, Killswitch Engage and All that remains are just pure awesome to me.
Any suggestions of other bands that fit into this category I should check out?

I went the same way as you a little while ago, after insisting that I despised it for so long.
They're quite an experimental form of metalcore (Mathcore, to be precise), but try Dillinger Escape Plan, and the Number 12 looks like you
paddy.

I love Killswitch Engage, and All That Remains are brilliant. I saw them when they were supporting Trivium a couple of years ago. It was one of the best gigs I've ever been to.
You've probably heard of them, but Bleeding Through are very good. Better still though, are Caliban, who seem to be the European equivalent of Bleeding Through (and in fact supported BT on their European tour. Caliban were much more impressive live, too IMO.)
Other good metalcore-ish bands to check out include:
36 Crazyfists
Bullet For My Valentine - I think you'll really like them if you don't already. Very Killswitch-y
Destroy The Runner - Awesome rif***e
Diecast
Endwell
Funeral For A Friend - Not really metalcore but their early stuff just can't be beaten. Look for the Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation album
Haste The Day
The Haunted - Amazingly good Swedish metal
He Is Legend - Just so good it hurts
I Killed The Prom Queen
Jackalfeud - These guys are a really great local band and I try to promote them as much as I can
Machinae Supremacy - Not metalcore, but everyone should like this band. Atari-metal!
November Dead List - Another great local band
Parkway Drive
Scary Kids Scaring Kids - might fall under emo, but listen to The Only Medicine and tell me that riff isn't metal
A Static Lullaby
Stutterfly
Thornley
Thrice - You probably know these guys
Vanna
The Warriors - A bit like Nonpoint but I'm beyond sticking to the genre by now
Ok, so most of those maybe don't strictly fall under metalcore I'm sure, but I don't really understand all these sub-genres. Metal comes in two forms: good and bad.
Enjoy!

Is it just me or does Killswitch Engage sound a little sweetness-filled?

Thanks for the suggestions!
I've heard of a few of them, but have no checked out some becaue of the name alone.
I suppose a bit Phenex, They are from my home town and have played a lot of the local metal shows. So I have got to seem them quite a bit and evolve.

hey party people, lovin this thread, a few concerns though:
A Static Lullaby - not metalcore....sorry, not even metal
Thornley - give me a break, they wouldn't even be considered pop rock.
Bullet For My Valentine - these guys are ok, but I don't think they're metalcore either.
that list aside from these three 'blemishes' is pretty solid
also THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN: mathcore is a very accurate label, but man I really can't take their music. They are very heavy, and the sheer noise level is astounding, I can't believe how the music can stay loud even at very low volumes....it's sheer brilliance...but I can't stand them.

some bands that you might consider from my ipod (not necessarily metal core, but at least hardcore):
blood brothers
blood for blood
buried alive
champion
converge
dir en grey (japanese metal/hardcore awesome if you understand the words)
everytime I die
for dire life sake
god forbid
hatebreed
madball
norma jean
nothingface
poison the well (prolly my fav hardcore band)
raised fist
refused
rise against
shai hulud (this band got me into hardcore)
stretch armstrong
underoath
until the end
this list along with the list above should have you set for a while
paddy.

1. If Underoath get to be on the list, A Static Lullaby get to be on the list.
2. I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't like Muse, and Thornley are a lot like Muse IMO. So, while they're not metal, they are very good and I thought Fes might like them. Listen to 'Comes Easy' by Thornley. It's a great track.
3. You have quite a few hardcore or hardcore influenced (read: loud and shouty) bands on your list, so I can see why B4MV wouldn't appeal to you. No need to call them a blemish though, they are a brilliant band, and as obnoxious as you can get.
Still, if you like Rise Against and Hatebreed I can dig ya.

I knew you would, big guy. I knew you would. ;)
If you want to find some good bands go to www.pandora.com and plug in the name of a band you like. That's how I discover a lot of music. If you put in Killswitch Engage, you'll get alot of the bands I mentioned popping up.

I hate most of this genre, but check out Heaven Shall Burn, Caliban and Unearth (although they dropped most of the core by now).
Since when is God Forbid metalcore?
The Haunted?
BFMV isn't metalcore, IMO. Not really even metal. At least not with the newest record. Horrible album.

What Paddy listed here is all I've heard but I have no idea what Metalcore is, if it sounds like metal I listen though. and you know I like Killswitch, another metal band would be In Flames, they have a new album.

I's funny, I like Killswitch, but Bullet for my Valentine just irritates the living dogsqueeze out of me. I can't stand the guys voice, he makes me want to beat puppies with kittens (and I love puppies and kittens!!). Dillinger Escape Plan is badass.
What about Nintendocore, like Horse the Band?
Furthermore, what exactly differentiates Metalcore from real Metal (besides the guys singing through their nostrils)?

Is it just me or is Thrice's latest album (alchemy index vol I & II) kind of lacking?
i mean, the whole concept behind this album is genius, but I don't get the feeling they put as much work into as they did for like, The Artist In The Ambulance.

Metal + Hardcore mainly.

That's one thing that kills me about genrefication. How about Soulfly, were they Metal, Hardcore, or the original Metalcore?

It's lame, it's just something the scene kids say to each other to make it sound like they're more into music than they actually are.

This just in,
for those who deem thrice's NEW stuff "metalcore", their new album is out today
http://www.amazon.com/Alchemy-Index-Vol-Air-Earth/dp/B0015FS8QC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1208284554&sr=1-1
edit: yup, just listened to it, its like what would happen if you took alanis morisettes acoustic stylings, and coupled it with radiohead's computer effects, tied their shoe laces together and pushed them down a hill covered in bear traps

i don't think anyone would even try to say new thrice is metalcore. people have been whinemoaning about it ever since whenever, but i will agree that the new stuff has some great moments, i reckon all 4 elements have their merits.

I prefer Killswitch with Howard to Killswitch with Jesse. In the later albums I think the band has really matured.
The Arms Of Sorrow is probably my favourite KSE song right now, although the Holy Diver cover is pretty awesome.

Back to the main topic for a sec: If Hope Dies is a decent metalcore act. Their album Life in Ruin has a handful of good cuts.
Thought of them since they just played on my iPod.
Someone ought to start a metal thread.

Well i haven't posted in a good like 3 years so i guess this would be a good start :D
In Flames, Soilwork, CoB might be a little more HxC but its still very melodic. Bullet for my valentine as suggested before <3 them. Escape the fate is good too

august burns red, you must check them out
between the buried and me's older albums (silent circus, alaska) their new album 'colors' is great, but it has a more alterative metal/progressive metal style to it

and I like KSE with howard over jesse. jesse's vocals seem to really irritate me at moments, and i think howard has done a lot for the band to progress kse's sound
