I'm looking to buy a MacPro. I've got a pair of VGA monitors that I want to run. I understand that perhaps the ATI Radeon X1900 is the better option for high end graphics work. It's also nearly twice the cost of a NVIDIA GeForce 7300. I also have read that the Apple DVI-to-VGA adapters are too wide to allow two VGA monitors to be plugged into the one card, which would mean I'd need to get a second card anyway.

So, I'm wondering a few things: are there thinner adapters available? Would I get similar performance with two NVIDIA cards as opposed to one Radeon?

thanks in advance!

You can use any dvi to vga adapters gary so I dont think that will be a problem unless you plan on using the apple ones

Good luck with your purchase :thumb:

Yep, I've used plenty of the generic adapters off of Newegg on a handful of machines and never had a problem. Apple's adapters are probably way overpriced anyway (their ADC to DVI converter is like 50 bucks!)

thanks, people. The Apple adapter is priced at about $19. But I've seen other brands for about $12.
