I've never really heard a movie soundtrack that I thought was absolutely amazing... That said, I have to admit I'm a pretty big fan of any Disney movie or Broadway musical. In a totally hetero way.

Pretty much anything Wes Anderson does, namely The Royal Tennebaums.

Also a second for Reservoir Dogs.
Fight Club.

Blues Brothers definitely! Wayne's World soundtrack is rather awesome too.

It's not a movie but the tv show Teachers (UK) has a fantastic soundtrack.

Magnolia's got a pretty good soundtrack, as has Gremlins 2, but I only say that because there's a snippet of a slayer song in there :pleased:

Requiem for a Dream. Amazing soundtrack.
A Clockwork Orange, The Crow, Dark City, Lost Highway, Star Wars, The Black Hole, The Devil's Rejects, Judgment Night, Natural Born Killers, Run Lola Run, Ralph Bakshi's Wizards, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Wip3out all come to mind too.

I wasn't fond of the movie 'City of Angels', but for some reason I've ended up having an inordinate amount of lovin' while it's playing in the background, so I dig it.

How can a movie called Dazed and Confused not have any Led Zeppelin in it?
Good song list though.

^Absolutely. It's a great movie! It's about a transsexual German rock singer and his/her band, and her relationship with a star she helped create. The music rocks and the story is compelling. You won't be sorry you saw it.

These are actual composed scores to movies, not a bunch of 'songs collected in light of the idea of the movie'. In no particular order:

1. Blood Diamond
2. The Island
3. Equilibrium
4. The Departed
5. Casino Royale
6. I, Robot
7. The Italian Job
8. A.I.
9. Good Bye Lenin

And anything by Klaus Badelt and/or Steve Jablonsky really.

1. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

That's a good one but I like For A Few Dollars More (http://www.walker47.com/assets/sound/themes/theme%20dollars.wav) better, with the whistling. O Brother Where Art Thou is good and so is Kingdom of Heaven.

I love the feather theme song, which isn’t on the official soundtrack for some reason.

Titanic is pretty sweet too.

I've just watched the Perfect Storm earlier. It's been a decade since I've last seen it, and the thing I can't forget is the song Yours Forever by John Mellencamp.

Actually, it's the story about an iceberg that was just minding its own business, not bothering anybody, just floating along in the North Atlantic, when some stupid primates in a large metal contraption chugged across its path. Poor iceberg. :(

How about a game that played like a movie? I love the Mass Effect soundtrack. I rarely love a movie soundtrack, just a song or two for me.

I really like the TV series Dexter soundtrack, its quite good.

Edit: I just thought of one I really liked, Last Man Standing 1996 by Ry Cooder was really good.

There were a few movies that had me looking in the credits to find the artists, but for the most part i've always thought movie soundtracks suck.
