Microsoft has now licensed the technologies from Eolas, removing the “click to activate” requirement in Internet Explorer. Because of this, we're removing the “click to activate” behavior from Internet Explorer!
Though the 'damage' has already been inflicted, so to speak, it's nice to know that my old auto-generated HTML files from back before the updates won't need to be modified. (I never had the time :P )

Wahoo!!
Although as you said, the damage has already been done. Doesn't mean it can't be UNdone though :D Good news, good news. It'll be nice not to have to use the JS workaround anymore.

I gotta know...
What does everybody else think about all of this??
Personally...
If they think I would ever use embed tags for anything, they are sadly mistaken.
Many good things have come from that debacle, don't you think?
I would like to see more discussion on this.

I don't know whether you use Flash or not, but lots of the JavaScript solutions to the ActiveX problem insert embed tags dynamically.

I guess, as has already been said (http://ajaxian.com/archives/no-more-click-to-activate-no-more-swfobject-ufo), the damage has already been done.
Also, so many good thing have come from this, why indeed go back to the "old school" embed tag, huh?

true but I still the default publish for flash is to have a object tag there so there is no reason for me to change if it is the default
^ yeah its a weak argument but thats all I got for now

Regarding that active content nag, how do you turn it off for javascript ? I have basic DHTML which fires that thing off and it's extremely annoying....
