I took all the advice, critiques, and ideas from the Rain v1.0 thread and put them to work in the new version. Please let me know what you think of it. I've already heard the rants about AIR's inherent problems, so save your breath for critiques of the application itself, please. You can download it here (http://esherido.com/posts/rain-v11/). (You'll need the latest version of Adobe AIR to run this application.)

i really like how you are using organic shapes for the bodies of the windows. that's awesome. however, i think you should either stick with sharp corners or rounded corners.
the rounded bottom edge of the settings window is dope, but the inconsistency of the hard/soft corners is throwing it off.
also, the stroke around your windows should all be the same thickness for consistency's sake.
better icons this time.

I get the inconsistency point; I was kind of stuck one how I wanted to design the UI. I will get more consistency in the later versions. I am a bit confused about the width of the stroking on the windows, the white and black windows for Posting and Settings have the exact same width of their strokes.

the white and black windows for Posting and Settings have the exact same width of their strokes.
yes they do, but the stroke around the main interface (blue) is thinner - it's probably a personal preference thing...

^ Yeah, that happens to do with the inconsistencies of the windows.

oh really? it's a program flaw, word... i thought it was in the actual design.

I'm confused now; to you have a screenshot showing what you mean?

haha, i bet you aren't as confused as you think.

you explained why the stroke around your blue window is different from the stroke around the swhite windows. you said it was part of the AIR program.
i thought that was a design decision you made, and it creates inconsistency. but if you can't change it cause of AIR then fair enough.
but if you can, you should ;)

^ Dangit! I must have confused you with what I said; I made those different strokes and I made the rounding on the main window. I was stuck with what to do on the Posting and Settings windows so I just went with the black and white and 8px stroking. I do know it's very inconsistent and I am trying to think up a good idea to fix that. ;)

ah!
well, i think it's alright that the posting and setting windows differ from the main. that makes sense since they do something different than the main window.
it was only the thickness of the stroke that was bothering me.
it's one thing to have the sections look different in design and color to sectionalize them, but consistency between small details like the width of the stroke (or for ex: same fonts, icons, highlight colors) will help create flow between the two looks of your window styles.

^ I get your point now; the reason for the smaller border stroke was that I wanted the main window to feel very compact and contained, whereas the other windows were design to be kind of big and in-your-face'ish.

Problem.
Instead of saying "success" it should say
GREAT success
