Here's something I did while ill today, it's quite abstract in it's link to transport. I'll explain more if needed.

Ok, so in the future transport won't be anything like it is now. We won't sit in our current state on an object, with our head stuck in a fat mans armpit. Instead we MIGHT be not quite teleported but projected across the galaxy. And to make it worth while (in energy terms) groups of people would be transported at a time... and every now and then there might be a collision.
