Hi everyone,
This thread will outline some of the rules and guidelines associated with the Design Anything contest where you can design anything...as long as it is related to this contest's theme, Transport.
Basic Rules:
0. This contest ends 14th November 2007. Design early...design often!
1. Your entry must be a static image (JPG, PNG, etc.).
2. Your entry must be related to the theme Transport. Feel free to be creative with your interpretation of it, but be able to provide a good justification if requested.
3. While there is no set maximum image size, your image's width/height MUST BE greater than 800 x 600.
4. When you submit your entry, create a new thread in this forum with the title being at least your name and entry number. For example, Kirupa #1: And the Problem is Transport. For displaying your entry, please host your images on imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us) and post the link here.
4.5 After you have created your thread, post a response here (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278757) with your thread's title and URL. This is important, for if you don't reply to that thread, your entry may risk not being noticed by the judges.
5. Your entry must be appropriate and not contain offensive, controversial, etc. content. Like all things on this site, this is designed to be a friendly, appropriate for all ages kind of thing. Also, don't violate copyrights.
6. You must be a registered user (not a guest, not a banned ex-member, etc.) and submit your own entry. You cannot submit on anybody's behalf either. This is a fun community, so don't be shy to register.
7. There is no limit to the number of entries you can submit.
Prizes
There will be prizes in this contest. While this information will be updated with possibly *more* prizes, currently, 1st place will receive $200 via paypal, 2nd place will receive $150 via paypal, and 3rd place will receive $50 via paypal. Payment will be made only via paypal.
Judging
Information will be provided on this with a list of the judges shortly.
Cheers!
Kirupa =)

Question: Are we limited in media? Does it have to be something designed on the computer, or can we stretch on over to photography?

^"Anything"
//edit, but it does have to fallow rule 1.

Yep - anything. Photos, etc. Just to add on to rule 1, don't break copyrights in the process :P

Does that mean we can make a cake and take a picture of it (not that I'd actually do it, I'm curious :P)?
kirupa

As long as the cake has some sort of a trasportation themed icing design!

Have you picked judges?? I don't want to be a judge, but you really should at least pick 3 or more people to judge such an event. or is it going to be poll based??(I believe those can be cheated, im not sure)

Like always judges are chosen toward the end so that we get people who have not submitted work. I like the idea of judges and Kirupa usually gets a large handful of them.
I was wondering when you vote for the worst thats gonna be a separate vote?

Yep - judges are picked towards the end, and I have fixed the end date to be November 2007....not 2008 :P

I'd be more than willing to judge, especially since I don't have any great ideas for my entry and haven't been able to judge before.

I have loads of great ideas but none of them I can do in the time-frame, if any illustrators/cartoonists want an idea just ask.

Hmmm it seams we have lots of judge candidates. I for one am planning to participate, assuming I can think of something good.

And what is this going to be judged on? Creativity? Quality?
kirupa
October 26th, 2007, 09:40 PM
Criticerz - that depends really on the judges. I go for what looks great while fitting within the theme, but other judges may have their own ideas :)

Is it okay to post partials and keep updating them (not submitting them to the submition thread till they are done)?
I just want to see what others are doing... also while I work on mine (and maybe show mine as its being completed... still haven't had a whole lot of free time to work on it though).

before developing any idea
..lets have a look wat wikipedia says about kind of transportation:
> Air transport
> Cable transport
> Conveyor transport
> Human-powered transport
> Hybrid transport
> New Mobility Agenda
> Rail transport
> Road transport, including human-powered transport such as walking and cycling
> Ship transport
> Space transport
> Sustainable transportation
> Transport on other planets
> Proposed future transport
:) now we can easily derive few ideas before creating any winning idea.

Sure - I mean, it will be linked as an entry, but you can change that single entry as many times as you want :) The only thing is...don't create a separate thread for the same entry!
