30 Days of Night (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/30daysofnight/index.html)
I don't know about you guys, but I am really excited to see this movie. A friend of mine let me borrow the graphic novel back in 2004. I was instantly very impressed by the illustrations and the story.
The basic plot is that vampires all come to a town in Alaska where there is 30 days of darkness. That alone is one of the best story ideas for a vampire flick in a long time. 30 days of darkness, 30 days of feeding. I won't go real heavy into the story, the summary of the plot is enough to make anyone who is interested in vampire/horror films want to go see this film.
The film is direct by David Slade, he hasn't really done much film work. So it will be interesting to see one of his biggest directorial debuts.
All in all, I am pretty excited to see it, unfortunately I am going out of town this weekend, so I probably won't get to see it until Sunday night or so.
Post your thoughts, comments, and your reviews after you see it :)

Do you have much luck with that? Mine won't go, period. And in a way its kind of better that way because if I forced her, and she did go, I'm sure she'd have nightmares and kick my butt during the night

I would love to see it but I go to like 3 movies a year and this won't make the wife want to go. So its either a cut from my buddy or wait till it comes out on DVD. It does look really good though.

It really depends on how much I beg. She is not really a movie person in general. Especially not Horror.

I saw this flick last saturday. so good! the ending was unexpected (in that I couldn't predict it) the cliffhanger/turning point/twist was slightly unexpected as well.
I liked how they portrayed the vampires...I was sick of the suave, sexually-charged vamps we're accustomed to...these guys were bad *** and just did what they did.
I also liked how they suggested that vampires are actually real and that they spent 'centuries' trying to convince humans that they were just a myth.
hartnett is honestly a good actor, I have yet to see a film in which I did not believe his character or his performance. He's good.
I liked the environments, and the fact that the movie takes place in a desolate town in the middle of a huge snowstorm.
What I didn't like was the cop/ex-girlfriend plot. I felt that it didn't add anything to the overall story and that it kind of confused and took away from what the point of the movie was (to survive). I felt that it wasn't explored enough and it didn't have much closure (aside from the guy dying).
all in all, this will go right up on my shelf nicely between dracula and blade (1,2,3), and just a few dvd's down from 28 days later.
great flick.

Plotholes galore, lame ending and Josh Hartnett and Melissa George were poor lead choices, but it's a horror movie. You watch it to have fun, not for Oscar-worthiness. I enjoyed it for what it was.

I fully endorse watching this movie
This is what vampire movies are all about, that one scene with the aerial shot panning across the town center when all the vampires and townspeople were runnning amok, was, awsome.
Also, josh hartnett is GRIMEY in this movie, josh + axe + vampires = HIGHLY ENTERTAINING
Worth the time and money investment for a few hours of awesome.
Also, didnt Rob Zombie have a hand in this movie?
