Hey guys, Just wanted a quick crit on a design. Gonna be in CSS/HTML. Simple Wordpress theme. Not sure if I like the bg, but I dont have any good ideas. I know it needs some color, and im still having ideas. The main peice i want to be crit(ed) is the layout, the font, and the tab size(I like it big). The layout is meant to be simple, and all the site is for is to display various works.

Thanks in advance

PS. This is supposed to look like a speech balloon. And please go all out. there isnt much to crit though. And i almost forgot to mention that the speech balloon will get bigger on the y axis as content is added.

Colour won't hurt you. Can't really say more till you add content and organize things right now theres not much too it than a box text and a smiley. Tabs could use some work.

I couldn't tell that it was speech bubble because it doesn't look like anyones saying anything. Why not move the pointy thing of the bubble to the top left of the box because the page will expand vertically as you fill it with content. With this said, why not have the smiley face guy on the outside of the box looking like the word bubble is from him.

I like the font inside the content box (where "Hello world!" is). I would make the date a darker color (its a bit hard to read) or get rid of the gradient.

I would suggest taking holywoad.com and placing in the top right corner of the _page_.

The tabs look awful in my opinion. I would suggest not capitalizing the first letter and also using a different font. Since your logo is quite smooth and sans serif I would use something equally simple. Try all capitalized Arial/Verdana/Geneva/etc. Also, if you decide to get right of the first letter caps, make the tabs height a little smaller while widening it. This gives you more room to expand in the future.

Another idea I have for this would be have a different character/smiley guy for each section of your page with his/her own world bubble. These bubbles could be colored or styled differently, thus solving your color problem.

@x3brand Great advice. I actually had the idea of changing the smiley guy on each page. I also agree with putting the guy outside. He is currently the logo along with the typography (holywoah.com) your crit gave a a great idea, and i will post it soon.

@darkmotion i will make a wireframe. if the png isnt good enough :P
