on AIM!

start up a command prompt
Step 1:
Run -> cmd.exe
type: Netstat -a
look at everything there
Step 2:
direct connect with them on aim
again type: Netstat -a
look for something new, that is mostlikely their ip
---------
That will get you their ip address
now, if you can find a demo of it, a Program called NeoTrace will find the geographical location of that ip address, and in most cases give you the street address, heh heh....
and hey, it even plots it on a world map, how nice

that helps but if they are a random person cussing at u they wont likely direct connect

July 5th, 2003, 10:43 PM
couldnt even direct connect---every1 on firewall these days

if you think you know the e-mail address of the person(like someone u know is doing it) go
People -> Find A buddy -> By E-mail
enter their e-mail, and see if the harassing sn comes up

yeah, theres pretty much no way of doing it without direct connecting and netstating or something of the like.

Mhh Netstat - never knew about that - does it check all the outgoing packets ???
can someone remind me of the site to use to find the physical adress using the ip ( i might have searched the wrong way )

if you do netstat -h it will tell you all the different things you can check with it.
also, i dunno what site they were talking about, but if you go here
http://www.all-nettools.com/tools1.htm
and do a whois, it will look it up. if it's a dynamic ip though, it will just tell you the isp's info. although, i think that's pretty standard, unless you really know your schtuff, it's hard to get an exact location on a dynamic ip without going through the isp.
