I think this is more browser oriented than Flash MX, so I'm posting here.
I've got a web page that's site.com/thing.swf I want to save this to my hard drive, can I do it? I'm using IE6.
If this is illegal or I shouldn't do this, I'll delete the thread.

you need an swf compiler, that way you can right click and save. but you might be able to somehow dl it another way too.

i don't see why there would be anything wrong with this...as long as you don't plan to pass the SWF off as your own or anything.
what you need to do is find out the full path of the swf...for example: http://www.espn.com/sports.swf or something like that
then put a link to it somewhere on a website: sports
then upload the page, right click on the link, and select "save target as"
boom! you have the SWF...there may be an easier way to do this, but I know this will work.

yay, i used teet's way. Thanks a bunch guys. No, i'm not going to say it's mine, just going to make fun of someone with it.
I know they were going to take it down after they thought about how stupid it was, so i needed to save a copy :P.

just choose view source and see whats the name of the swf in this section of the code
PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="site_final_4.swf"
then hit start, search, files or folders and copy and paste the name of the swf it will show up in your tmp internet files :beam:

I dont think he actually wants to decompile one - just save it.. use a Download manager :)

well, you save it to your harddrive, and after that you can decompile it to smaller parts, actionscript/sound and everything else.
