I saw the movie last night and it was undoubtedly the best Action movie ive seen this year, maybe in the past 2 years second only to the first Matrix. I am extremely picky when it comes to films but WOW this movie did a superb job. i lked it more than T2.

I dunno... I saw the trailer... and I've gotta say... I thought it looked kinda tacky... I'll probably end up going to see it anyway - I'll let you know what I think :)

Now, see...

I didn't think that Matrix 1 was that good of a movie. I mean the plot was thin, I thought, and it was mostly special effects (which were the best yet, for a non-realistic movie), that have been so over used since, that I don't want to see the second one...

Every movie made anymore has the "matrix effects" in their fight scenes... way overdone.

I personally liked "The Thirteenth Floor" better. I thought the plot was better, and it didn't rely on special effects to carry off the story.

T2 was a good movie, but T1 was an awesome movie. I guess I am less impressed by special effects than by good writing and direction...

The matrix effects part, matrix wasn't the first movie to use these types av special effects, there is one movie, i do not know the name of it but my friend said he'd seen it and it was made before the first matrix.

Wait wait wait... It is out already? It doesn't come out in France for another month and a half :scream:

Concerning 13th floor, the scenario is OK, but there isn't anything fabulous either. In the same "vein" of movies, I like eXistenZ better :)

maybe true, but Matrix made them so popular that we can't have a fight scene in a movie that doesn't use that multi-camera effect.

that was my only point.

I like eXistenZ as well. It was just a bit dark for me... But it was very well done for this "vein" of movies I agree. It would be a tough toss up between the 2 for me...

it was just... convoluted.. overly and unecessarily confusing.. the script was awful, the acting wasn't much better and the whole "not quite sure if you're still in the game/dream" only for them to wake up.. how many times is it? ... it's over-used and unoriginal...

in a GCSE (high school level - 15/16 yr olds) textbook they tell you: when writing a story, the golden rule is: NEVER, under ANY circumstance have the main characters wake up and reliase everything was a dream... ok so that's not exactly how it happens in eXistenZ, the the principle is there.. it's... terrible :)

That book is a bit off the mark. One of the most watched Television episodes was "Dallas" when Patrick Duffy came back to life (from a dream).

It has been used many times, but not in this way. It was supposed to be confusing. The game was confusing.

I hate it when text books say NEVER (how many times in life have you been able to say "never" and actually make it happen)... The books are, after all, seldom written by anyone with a hit story... Usually by some teacher who hasn't had any story published in the first place.

There weren't lots of explosions, or pretty girls getting into martial arts fights... if that is what you were going for...

I guess that the what I liked about this movie is that they're not exactly dreaming, they're playing a game, so they chose what's happening to them. It's not your average "Phwew, it was only a dream, everything is going to be OK" story, because if this is, then so are quite a few Sci-fi movies.
... it's over-used and unoriginal...Can you give examples please? I'm interested :)

Edwin, sorry for hacking your thread :sigh:

Well i just got back from watchin this great @zz movie and i personally think it blows away every movie sequel out there so far this year, this is how movie sequels should be made, blows matrix reloaded away by a mile, IMHO its the best movie of the summer if not of the year (so far) its very action packed and the story is more than i expected. In the end this movie exceeded my expectations even though it wasnt directed by James Cameron this movie is truly awesome go see it, its worth it :beam:

Back on TOPIC:

REGARDLESS of what you think about matrix, T1 or T2, T3 stands on its own. Terminator 3 was worth EVERY penny i pad to go see it. It was ENTERTAINMENT at its best. Nothing about this movie was boring, not a single second. GO SEE THIS KICK *** MOVIE!

I just saw the movie (kind of late I guess), but I think the ending left a little too many questions unexplained. Is there a T4 coming out or was that it?

T3 was good!

Much better than the crappy Matrix II

It wasnt perfect, its fight and action scences have been done quite well, there where a few mishaps in the "acting" scenes.

My only true problem with this film, is the Diffrence in acting of Clair Danes, and whover played O'Connor. Either she overacted or he underacted....or both!

I say it holds first place with t2, or maybe even is slipping a bit.
But defenetly a good action movie!

Action was great, but plot was "scetchy."

I saw T3 last night at a movie theater (yeah I know.....took me a while didn't it :)), and it was quite good. For some reason, the ending seemed too sketchy. Unlike the Matrix where we don't really know whether we are controlled by the Matrix, I know for certain that the entire planet did not get Nuked....I was able to walk home and see other people. Besides that, it ranks right up there with Matrix 1/2 and X2 as one of the better action movies I saw recently.

The robot animations were excellent though. Portions of it reminded me of a game I played a long time ago called Deus Ex ;)

T3 - definitely a must-see. And I like the idea how they ended it. And some humanity stuff like the weapons humans made end up being used against them and all that.

I think it was meant to be a bit artsy

T3 kinda let it all handing

Matrix 2 was never going to out strip the original just as Star wars was really the best. Matrix 2 was just setting up for the big finale

IMHO

Nope thats not it. There will be a T4. Arnie dosent even have to be in it. Even though I hope he is. The fourth will be the human resistance war in the future after skynet takes over. The machines in the future do not have skin and whatnot so they can totally get away with not casting arnold. He will probably be a little busy with running cali and everything.

Terminator has really gone as far as it can. It has kinda gone full circle. I supose that they could go back to the 1800s and kill John Connors great granddad / ma. Then they could go all werstern a la back to the future. Biff could actually be a terminator so it could be Back to the Future 4 meets Terminator 4 after all Freddy met Jason this year!

I disagree with you there man. When you play with time travel the storyline is basically limitless. Plus with every part of the series they flash to the future war. Its been building up to the next part since the original in 1984.

But there so many full circles that can be done before it becomes boring. What next, the robot sent back is a Mimetic Poly Alloy Koala

I guess you have a point though. I just eat them up though. I am a huge fan of the series. If they made 10 more I would still go see them all.

T3 was pretty good. I can't really pin down if it was better than the others or not.

Matrix movies are just unbelievably fascinating.

Matrix 2 had things done that no one has done before as well...and revolutions took it even a step further...

also Equilibrium was a great movie <- like Matrix meets Gattaca; no bullet time...replaced by 'gun katas'

http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/equilibrium.html

13th floor was ok- I personally thought it was kinda cheesy. Been a while since I seen it though.

T3 is nothing compared to T2. T2 was jsut more of a movie then T3 was. The only way to have a good T4 is to make it center around the war this time and not the going back to kill John Conners story. No Govinator would be a bouns as well.

They shouldn't even call it T4. They should make it seem like a totaly new movie and idea.
